Anyone have any tips on where I can buy an affordable home ice cream machine?  In the US $30 gets you a simple motorized (110V) 1 gallon machine (the salt & ice method).  Found the same machine (with a 220V motor) under a local Thai brand at Siam Paragon for $200.  That's kind of ridiculous.

 

Alternatively, anyone know of a shop that'll rewind a 110 motor to 220?

A mom and pop shop that retails Thai style cooking equipment may have a hand cranked ice and salt type maker. Can't remember the price.

My experience regarding an ice cream makers is as follows.

Central department store Cuisinart 1.5 quart 19,900 baht.

Same model from Amazon delivered to Thailand 11,400 baht but will need a converter for power input. (Includes all taxes and delivery charges)

I bought the same model in the Penang market Hat Yai for 9,999 baht. Came with a Malaysian plug so assume it was smuggled.
