Saw him in n TV being interviewed by senior police in a media circus event surrounded by masked swat team officers holding M4 assault rifles seemingly ready for action but without magazines inserted.

 

Police general: “Why did you use a silencer instead of just using an ordinary gun without silencer?”

 

Headmaster Golf: “I used a silencer because I wished to shoot without making a loud noise.”

 

i think the policeman’s thinking was that silencers are illegal in Thailand whereas guns are OK but it did come over as a rather low value added question from a senior crime fighter.

They didn’t have a DNA match the day they arrested him. That’s a fact. 

1) why was he taken to the tourist police station?

During a press conference at the police headquarters in Bangkok this morning, the media were allowed to pose questions directly to Prasitthichai Khaokaew, the suspect in the bloody gold-shop robbery in Lopburi on January 9. 

 

Here is an excerpt of the short question-answer session conducted on a speaker-phone:

 

Q: Why did you have to shoot to kill the victims?

Prasitthichai:  I only meant to shoot to frighten people.

 

Q: Did you plan the robbery in advance?

Prasitthichai: I thought about it for a few days.

 

Q:  Why did you shoot at the victim (gold–shop attendant) again?

Prasitthichai:   When I was on top of the counter and had my gun trained at the woman by hand-glove got tangled with the trigger. I tried to pull it off and caused the gun to fire twice.

 

Q: Why did you shoot the child (2–year–old Titan)?

Prasitthichai: I did not see him.  I shot at the security guard to frighten him. The child could have been by the ricochet.  I didn’t mean to shoot at the child.

So if needed they can play cops in Thailand.  But these arrests with so many senior cops wanting in the photo as well as these press conferences with all the senior  guys using it as a photo op is wrong. Start  retiring all the worthless  cops and solve all cases like this one.   How many retired cops have guns?    A few changes and this guy could have got away.  I hope this doesn't  spur copycats.

Seems all those people including three who died were shot by mistake as was someone shot 3 times. His motive for the murders appears to be anything but any kind of mandatory death sentence murder category.............................

Indeed. Things are rarely what they appear to be at first here. While many of the posters are lining up to apply for the job of executioner, I am interested to wait and see how it develops. I will wager (if it were legal here) there is a bit more to be revealed with this story, even before it gets to court.

Thai judicial system allows wealthy individuals to pay restitution against not filing criminal charges. If you have a tad juice, connections & cash you will be given this option.

In this case it is very likely that we will see this happened.

The motive changes by the hour, was it a "hit", did he do it for the money as he was in debt, or did he do it for the "thrill", jealousy was a part? regardless - he then went calmly out that night for a meal!

DNA, do the 'Police" now have a mobile testing lab, if so where is it accredited? Sweat sample, murder, carnage, chaos, lots of people, yet this newly established unit managed to match sweat samples from the perp, given their history with all things criminal & DNA, I can't help but wonder?

And what was the Father doing with the gun in he first instance. He was a " Former Cop " right, so his License to bear arms should have been withdrawn.

So many things incorrect about this post, I don't know where to start! 

 

Private citizens can have a gun licence. It was his FIL whom was a cop, so pretty much can do whatever the @@@@ he wants.

An ex girl friend of my wife was shot dead, in the head,  by a jealous (ex) boyfriend.

But he "cooperated" with police, showing them her body and re~enacted the crime.

Her mother was then given the choice by the bibs....either they can go through the long and costly process of court,  or he gives her BX00,000 cash.

She took the money and he walked free.

He even attended the funeral (as did wife and I).....with a police escort so that no friends or relatives could attack him!

It happens here.

i always see foreigners being pulled over by the police in phuket for a "traffic violation".

Definitely a possibility. Hitman are quite common in Thailand. There is a famous hitman that works at / owns a prominent tattoo parlor in Patong Beach. If you go in there often enough, the guy will start bragging to his customers about all the people he’s taken out. He claims the bribe for murder is 1 million baht. He claims over 15 million baht in fines due to hits. This is what the guy says.  He’s not shy about it and laughs when he tells you these stories. He’s protected by some very powerful Thais.

If the gold is really in the river, it should not be too hard to find.

And, he must not be an expert in firearms if he didn’t know every gun has a ballistics signature-unless he was going to pin it on his father
