Commerce offices told to keep watch on hoarding, price of face masks

Why?

It's simple economics of supply and demand!

If people aren't prepared then they have to accept a higher price when they need one

I have also given 50 away free to friends etc

If you tried that in the US you would face jail time. Most consider it not only unethical but illegal.

When retailers take advantage of these spikes in demand (often coupled with supply bottlenecks) by charging exorbitant prices for necessities, it's referred to as "price gouging." In most states, price gouging during a time of emergency is considered a violation of unfair or deceptive trade practices law.

  • No offense but......I hope you get burned on the deal.

  • Many of the sold face mask will not protect against the virus. Here a lot of information work needs to be done and shops should be stopped to sell such useless masks.

I bought 1500 3M N95 masks on Friday.  I'm waiting for the panic to set in and then sell them for a nice profit!

I have plenty of masks to give away for free. I see all masks as insufficient method of protection. Need a real WWIIGas mask and Aerospace suit for a real protection ????

So my late 70s m17 military gas mask won't work

The N95 is the most protective but the regular 2.5 masks offer some protection and are better than nothing. They can protect those with a virous from spreading it by  coughing/snezzing. Also if someone coughs the droplets are not landing directly in your nasil passages mouth. Sure not 100 percent effective as hazmat suit but be real we can't walk around like that so offers some protection. Persons are advised to wash hands frequently , use alcohol/germacide hand sprays , stay away from infected  people, eat healthy, get rest to keep immune system strong.

Was in Terminal 21 Pattaya yesterday none of the Pharmacies/Boots/Watsons had alcohol hand sprays or masks, had to go to Harbour Mall ,Chonburi or Long Po pharmcies in Banglamung to get masks and alcohol sprays.

Boot’s was Sold Out in Korat

The normal price for a mask like that in the U.S. is around $2 U.S.

Except you are not in the States.  Many people make comments such as this and do not appear to realise the economy and circumstances of where they live, Thailand, are not the same as "back home", etc.

'nuf sed..

One of the best on the market, although a bit pricey is the Cambridge Mask from England.  They make both the PM 99 and PM 95 masks for the public for which the face must be measured so that the correct fit is made, but they also produce for military around the world.  They have an agent in Thailand (web site - BreatheThai.com).  Both sell for 1070 Thb from them, plus shipping. Unfortunately, at the moment they are sold out.  Can be checked through Google.  The regular "masks" sold in places like 7-11 and drug stores are not worth the money as they only assist in preventing the spread of coughs and sneezes but are no protection from airborne problems due to there not having any real substance except maybe a thin layer of cotton to stop a person from breathing in the air although they may stop some of the dust.  Remember, though, the particles currently being experienced enter the lungs and can get into the bloodstream.

'nuf sed.

Uh huh....   :crying:
