PM concerned about people, provides support to public health practitioners

BANGKOK (NNT) - Regarding the corona virus outbreak, the Prime Minister is concerned about the effects on the population and is ready to bring Thai people back from Wuhan as soon as possible. He has also provided moral support to public health practitioners and related parties.

Government Spokesperson Narumon Pinyosinwat disclosed today that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has been closely following the effects of the corona virus outbreak since last week and remains concerned about the welfare and safety of Thai people in Wuhan and other cities in China because the health and safety of Thai people is the most important responsibility of those in government. He vowed to take good care of all Thai people both in Thailand and abroad.

As for bringing Thai people back from Wuhan, the government has been in close contact with the Chinese government on the topic. Evacuation will be executed as soon as the Thai government receives permission from the Chinese authority to enter its territory.

The relevant ministries have prepared a commercial plane to bring Thai people back from Wuhan in coming days. He emphasized the safety of officials who will pick up Thais now in Wuhan and the safety of Thai people there.

The government has implemented procedures for disease prevention and control in accordance with international standards. Thailand’s public health sector has been well acknowledged in the global community, and is now ranked 6th in the world and 1st in Asia, in its preparedness to prevent an infectious disease outbreak.

He called on people to believe that the government is still able to control the situation and prevent an outbreak in Thailand. At first, all Thai patients were infected with the disease brought from foreign countries.

There is currently one Thai who became infected with the disease from Chinese tourists in Thailand but many of them are now fully recovered and the tourists have returned home. If an outbreak occurred here, the government already has measures in place to cope with the situation.

The Prime Minister thanked all for providing moral support to the public health practitioners and all Thai people. He reaffirmed that the Government would put the utmost effort into tackling and alleviating the situation, and would go through any further difficulties with the Thai people as one.

For him the truth is like the coronavirus,a deadly pathogen of which he lives in mortal fear. Now he wears a mask to stop people seeing his lips moving.

  • I admire his efforts to try to smoke the virus out of Thailand with excessive crop burning.  Well done mr. PM.

Nice to hear, but difficult to believe.  Oh wait, elites are people too.  Okay, he means it.

Trust me.  Military rule is the only way forward.  Blindly follow me and you probably won't be sorry.

I think it would better for Thailand if it was "better never than late" in regards to this guy.

Well at first they we're planning to send a Thai air Force aircrfat which apparently needed permision in terms of foreign military aircraft flying in China air space and landing at / departing from a Chinese air force facility.

In any case it's taken way too long, the wait is disgraceful.

And IMHO more to the point, how serious is the check / scan of every passenger on arrival. In fact I have no faith at all on this procedure being done professionally and exactly correct and without missing any folks who are arriving.

If he was really concerned and had balls" he'd suspend all Chinese from any destination entering the country for one month. Then take care of any domestic outbreaks.

While flights are still entering Thailand daily from China it's not going to improve any time soon.

Then if you cared abut Thai people more than money, you would close the border to Chinese tourists like Australia and USA have done.

...but we know you true agenda, you little devil man.

No, he is not 'concerned'--about the virus, about the air pollution, about the poor schools, about the income inequity, about...  What a joke.  Just meaningless lip service.  The air pollution in Bangkok is horrible, by the way and has been very bad for days now.  If we're taking turns, tomorrow the PM will be 'concerned' about the bad air.  Concerned, but not doing anything.

How is it possible to check the passenger when it is known for sure there is a two-week incubation period, so with no fever, but it is contagious during the incubation.

Or is there something I have not understood?

Well, he's in the luggage claim area at SBIA/BKK. And apparently he's looking for a bag that's "this big".

I think you have to actually have morals before doing any moral support.

He has what we Aussies might call Clayton's morals,i.e.the morals you have when you don't have morals. The same could be said for this Clayton's government and the Clayton's Thai democracy!

Everyone in Thailand is fully aware of its "preparedness for any emergency event"

Meanwhile back in the real world, a more concerned Chinese PM Ji Xi Ping has [Monday as reported on international news], has instructed all companies or offices in Beijing and other large cities to allow people to work from home if possible, to alleviate all possible contamination during work related travel, any offices that are open to employees are screening them before they enter the building.

Can you see "uncle Tu doing something similar" if the outbreak escalates over here?

Sure I can see it if uncle Ping orders him to!

Is it April 1st already

Not just UK. Multiple countries have evacuated their Nationals. UK even had a second airlift yesterday/today after the Chinese authorities prevented some from leaving on the first flight last week for whatever reasons.

Thailand must be the closest country to China, it is the most heavily affected by this virus and the last to airlift their nationals.

I doubt it is China dragging their feet.
