If you have an "O" Visa (Marriage) WITH a One-Year extension based on B40k COMBINED income, does the 7-Day clock kick in, cancelling your Visa, in the same way that it does for a "B" Visa? Do you need to do another Visa run to get a new "O" after job/WP loss?

If it does, then what's the value of an "O" over a "B"... Neither protects you from expulsion after loss of job.

And you get the year extension with a WP and a "B" without having to jump through hoops the way you need to with an "O".

My wife works and creates her own income and pays her own taxes, so she isn't a Dependant for me on my Taxes. Doesn't seem to be much value of going through the hassle of an "O" extension if you don't have at least some protection from the cancellation of WP and making hurried, ridiculous Visa runs.

It seems to me that an "O" in this case would only be really helpful if your Wife could show Income on her own of more than B40k and therefore act as support for YOU, thereby getting you a One-year extension, without a WP... Then work as you want or can.. Forget the WP and just keep a low profile... At least then there is no AXE hanging.. and no threat of WP/Visa Withdrawal to use to keep you in line.

Otherwise, you continually will be running around to get extensions, that you'd normally get anyway with a "B". So why go to all the trouble and bother?

Kow jai mai??

No. Work permit loss has no effect on visa extension of stay if for family. Only when the extension of stay is based on employment do you have the 7 day window to leave factor.
