Featured Replies

The Interior Ministry Border Police Protection Unit has thwarted Thai soldiers trying to erect barbedwire along the border of the white zone area, part of Oddar Meanchey province that both Cambodia and Thailand are yet to reach an agreement  regarding demarcation.

Major General Men Ly, Oddar Meanchey provincial police chief , said yesterday that he received a report from Border Police Protection Unit 702 stating Thai soldiers deployed barbedwire in the contested area when they were patrolling in Banteay Ampil district along the Cambodia-Thai border on Monday. “Our border police have met with the Thai party and they have agreed to remove the barbedwire from that area,” Maj-Gen Ly said. He declined to comment further.

According to a police report, Captain Porng Korm, from the acting Border Police Unit 702 and four police officers patrolled along the border and found 20 pieces of barbedwire installed by Thai soldiers on Monday. They were placed in the Cambodian territory of Thmar Don area, located in Banteay Ampil district.
