Dust pollution in Bangkok and nearby provinces showed a decline as of 7am on Wednesday (February 5), according to the Pollution Control Department.

Particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in diameter were found to be between 29 and 57 micrograms per metre, while the safety level prescribed by Thai authorities is 50mcg per metre or lower.

Areas with PM2.5 at unsafe level were:

Din Daeng Road in Din Daeng district, Lat Phrao Road in Wang Thonglang, Nawamin Road in Bang Kapi, Lat Krabang Road in Lat Krabang, Khlong Kum subdistrict in Bueng Kum, Thung Song Hong subdistrict, Lak Si (all in Bangkok) and Pak Nam subdistrict in Muang Samut Prakan district in Samut Prakan province.

Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index application showed at 9am that the overall air quality in Bangkok was 112, dropping from previously day but also “unhealthy for sensitive group".

So, I'm happy for the Bangkokians.

Funny: ' while the safety level prescribed by Thai authorities is 50mcg per metre or lower. '

Most of the north is 'red', between 150 and 180.

Maybe all the people wearing masks is helping clean the air by encapsulating the particles in the mask? ????

Bit of water spraying and all will be well ????

While the Northerners choke to death!

Oh now it's dust, eh? The wind turned southerly.

Here's a read about the real cause: https://towardsdatascience.com/identifying-the-sources-of-winter-air-pollution-in-bangkok-part-ii-72539f9b767a

But this analysis confirms the suspicion that many people have — agricultural burning is the root cause of PM 2.5 pollution in Thailand.

Just cut the BS already. It's boring.

You (and the young lady) are absolutely correct.

— agricultural burning is the root cause of PM 2.5 pollution in Thailand.

But one must add, depending on time of the year, place, winds etc.

If you would be so friendly to have a look at the fire-mapper screenshots,

7 days, 3 days, the last 24 hrs. - The whole Indochina seems to be burning.

And, as we all know, the bigger culprits are Cambodia and Myanmar.

What can we, the Thaivisa readers do?

What should the Thai Government do?

The whole 'thing' isn't funny:
