Tourist police cheer up Chinese ‘family’ with video

Thailand’s Tourist Police Bureau has produced a morale booster in the form of a 55-second video for Chinese people dealing with the 2019-nCoV coronavirus.

The video has drawn plenty of praise and shares since being posted on social media on Wednesday (February 5).

Tourist Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Chadtha Komonwattana acknowledged that the bureau is deeply concerned about the virus situation given the long friendship between Thailand and China.

He pointed out that the Chinese had sent Thais assistance and best wishes when much of the country was flooded in 2010.

The video features some 130 police officers saying – in Mandarin – “We hope that the Chinese people overcome the crisis soon. We love Chinese people as members of our family. China, don’t give up. Wuhan, don’t give up.”

Chadtha said the message conveys the friendliness the two countries share.

“It matches our motto, ‘Your First Friend’, which means the tourist police are the tourists’ best friends,” he said.

Of course, I sincerely hope you are joking. if not, I will just like to inform you about the fact that this is totally not driven by monetary interests.

are tourist numbers so low so they have really nothing better to do ?

don't they have to go arrest an elderly lady with 1 day overstay ?

The next one will be done alongside 7/11 people, in a Mama-mia dance.

Looks to me like she's got a big head too!

You know, I'm sure the TAT will better this by dropping Tourist brochures into Wuhan and delivering them to isolation wards giving them 5% off vouchers should they get better. Only caveat is that they must come before December 2020
