Thailand's Immigration Bureau chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang said yesterday that there were around 100,000 Chinese people in Thailand around the time the news of the coronavirus broke.

He revealed yesterday at his Suan Phlu HQ that since January 3rd 2,686 people came into Thailand from Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak.

In addition since that date 12,256 people had entered Thailand from Gwangzhou, another major Chinese city high on the Thai watch list.

He said that the IB were working closely with health authorities and had set up monitoring centers both in and outside Thailand.

He said that all land, sea and air borders in Thailand were being closely monitored.

Everyone who contacted immigration in any way was asked about their movements.

Cleaning of aeroplanes is taking place and work is being done with the Thai tourist police to promote mask wearing by drivers of public vehicles.

In addition fines for those overstaying after being stuck in Thailand are being waived.

how many thais and farang did they infect during their stay in the land of smirk?

I repeat, silent incubation from 1 to 14 days ...

But other than that, everything is under 1000% control  :annoyed:

Thais - 4

Farang - 0

Read it again. Pay particular attention to the dates.

So USA has made a stance. The US cruise ship company Royal Caribbean has announced that would-be passengers and crew with Chinese passports will be banned from all of its cruise ships – regardless of when they were last in the country at the centre of the coronavirus outbreak.

But here its come on over many Chinese we need your money.

Hard to believe. Link?

100,000 too many and they should stop a single person further from coming.  If we end up with a major outbreak in Thailand it will be the fault of the Brainless Nerks in Government House and i just hope they are the first to be contaminated !

And if you get sick you’ll only have yourself to blame for being brainless and not leaving sooner. If you were paying attention you would also know the first to be contaminated has already happened.

It would be reassuring to hear from the Thai Government on a number of issues:

- What is their plan for stopping the inflow of tourists and other visitors from China once even the government is convinced of the need?

- What is their plan for supplying high-quality and middling-quality face masks at reasonable prices to ALL the peoples of Thailand, not just central Bangkok?

- What is their plan for increasing the testing-for-contamination capability of the Thai laboratories from the present half-a-dozen a day to 1000 or 5000 or 10,000 a day if required in the next 3 or 4 weeks?

Still dreaming.

No one will know if novel coronavirus has taken a grip in Thailand until it reaches the point where it can't be stopped ... if uncontrolled it will take around a month to become obvious to everyone. So I'd take special care to avoid crowds and shop during low traffic hours. I wouldn't be to much until the situation becomes clear.
