Four people have been arrested by police, for allegedly spreading fake news about the COVID-19 virus, in coordinated raids in four provinces.

Armed with search warrants, officials from the Ministry Digital for Economy and Society, Technology Crime Suppression Division and provincial authorities raided houses in Bo Win district of Chon Buri, Ban Po district of Chachoengsao province and Muang districts of Chiang Mai and Nan provinces, from where fake news about the virus is suspected to have originated.

The suspects were held in police custody before being taken to the Technology Crime Suppression Division for further questioning.

Did they by any chance catch that slippery, egomaniacal madman who runs around dressed up like a James Bond villain…while claiming to be a senior government official? Right...the one who tried to dupe the public with the 'fake news' that the coronavirus was “100% under control”.

That is pretty much their idea, from what I can figure.  Notice the weasel words?

While "orders from Bangkok" are suppressing the news in some areas... in the absence of the truth people will assume other things.

Quickest way to stop fake news is to come out with the truth, not arrest them as in Draconian times!

If they were to come onto Thaivisa Forum for a day they could easily triple that number in hours.

Is the health minister one of them?

lo. its so true. and actually they should. if they check the forum for spreading fake news and fake claims, inciting hate, defamation of Thai persons, my educated guess is that most ppl here would be arrested, and with a bit of luck deported.  Oh what a wonderful day...all the cynics kicked back to their own country, how they will cry and miss Thailand!

For us farangs, it gets tricky.  I use sarcasm and comedy, but not everyone gets it.  The fact that we are not typing in THAI and not affecting Thais, I think we are simply laughed at.  We are a bunch of 99 year old losers trying to kill boredom and very few people around us can read English well enough to understand.

again....NO Facebook, Twitter, nothing in Thai, etc.... and never name names or businesses or make it personal.

In truth, most of the people you describe don't live here anyway, they're posting from their bedsits in Morecambe and Hull, dreaming they were here.

Time they caught up with these masquerading generals great news????

Every day don’t they give fake news. TIT
