Daily News reported that a yellow supercar that they said was worth tens of millions of baht burst into flames on the Bang Plee - Suksawat expressway around 10.40 on Sunday morning.

JS 100 Radio said that it happened after the Bang Khru entrance on a bridge.

Daily News said that traffic was snarled as fire services sought to put out the blaze but gave no further details.

The car looked to be a Porsche, notes Thaivisa.

I saw a Porsche burst into flames right before my eyes on the exit ramp to Ngam Wongwahn road last year. It just rolled to a halt , the driver got out and then up it went , much to his obvious chagrin.

I guess there would be a few more in Germany

I swear I thought I have seen that car before and the penny just dropped.

Roger Rabbits car!

Not an porsche but an 1930s Chrystler 77 that was.

Both nice cars and a pity the porsche went up.

The future of battery powered cars.....nice and hot !

Why don't they drive american cars there?

Funny.....and I hope to see more of these weaving on and out racers on Highway 7 in flames soon.

That’s not a Porsche in the picture.  Doesn’t have the same side profile as any 911/918/CGT etc.  look how the front lamps bulge out.  It looks more like one of those bodykitted Toyota MRS/MR2 abominations that I’ve seen for sale.

Maybe Porsche Boxter. Poor man's Porsche

that damn cigarette lighter ...

At best, it’s a Lotus Elise SC S3. Look at the front end pic in the linked article.  I still think it’s a body kit on an MRS however.

I used to have a yellow Porsche, but it was always overheating, so I sold it to a guy in Bang Phli.

Was worth millions...now worth scrap value !

Yes Porsche is well known to burst into flames

That's not one, but Lamborghinis are well known for engine fires.

Can't  understand it. The 'hole-in-the-wall' shop who did the LPG conversion assured me they were certified........

Indeed, in the S.F. Bay Area, Porsches are almost a dime a dozen, and unless they're one of the top models, are NOT considered "supercars". That designation is reserved for McClarens, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and other exotics.

In fact, one car site (CarGurus) lists over 250 911s for sale and over 750 Porsches of all models for sale.

Maybe had a fibreglass body,,,, sure burns well

Maybe IT was heavily insured and the owner was tired of it.... LOL ...

No way is that a Porsche, it’s an old MR2 (MRS) likely with fibre glass kit. Worth millions?? Not even before the fire. Maybe a million Indonesian Rupiah at best !
