DPM Anutin to implement measures to discourage COVID-19 “Super Spreader”

BANGKOK(NNT) - According to the government, the National Communicable Disease Committee’s decision to declare COVID-19 the nation’s 14th dangerous communicable disease will empower officials to impose stricter preventative measures against COVID-19 and will discourage those infected from becoming “Super Spreaders.” Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul made the comment after the committee made the decision.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the COVID-19 situation in Thailand is under control, while adding that once the declaration is published in the royal gazette, officials will be authorized to implement public health policies that will prevent or slow down the spread of the coronavirus. These measures may include fines and jail terms.

The term “Super Spreader” was used by South Korean medical officers to describe a patient who refused to be tested for COVID-19, despite having shown symptoms. The patient was allegedly responsible for a recent surge in the number of COVID-19 infections.

I don't want to downplay the seriousness of the soon to be pandemic, but I know a few bar girls who could be accused of being "super spreaders".

  • is there some group of super stupid from which ministers such as this one are mandated to come from ? super spreaders do not Know They Are Spreaders, thus how can they be 'discouraged' ?

Putting sick folks in crowded jails as a punishment?? Better inform the people how to sneeze in public without using their hands and other practical stuff.

better to act on such persons now rather than wait to end up in uncontrollable situation.

persons who refuse to be tested despite showing symptoms should be isolated immediately to control the spread of the virus. i cannot imagine the reason/s such persons can have for not undergoing the test except that they are foolish (exposing themselves to risk} and selfish, for potential spreading the disease to others.

Correct! There has to be a group of ministerial neanderthal F***wits locked in a room in Bangkok trying to outdo each other for Fw** of the year prize, but it will be ok in 7 weeks, when the hot weather blows the Corona virus away, and all will be back to normal...T.I.T.

Whats the fuss. They (Health official) have just stated  "don't worry it will blow away after Songran"

Well, I mean he has to say something, doesn't he!  I am sure his words will frighten the virus so that it gives up spreading.

But at least when hot air comes in Song Kran it will blow the virus away.

Unbelievable! Unbelievable!

How can he be so foolish.
Those people who do not know they are spreading a virus certainly can’t be discouraged by a fine or jail.
Sadly Thailand has failed again!  And again!

What a big joke Thailand they welcome to Chinese they don’t stop the farmers from burning and putting poison on all the vegetables they have the prostitutes spreading aids and other diseases and they want to now arrest the people by this is a great place for foreigners to live isn’t it TIT

This reflects a misunderstanding of the term, "super-spreader", either by the Thais or the Koreans (or both). A super-spreader is not someone who refuses to be tested. It is someone who is unusually contagious compared to other infected persons because they excrete more pathogens than usual in a given time (due to higher viral load, etc). A super-spreader often doesn't know they are contagious or if they are even infected, which is why they are of such concern...

Refusing to be tested has nothing to do with being a super-spreader

More stupidity from the gob of an idiot.

How in the proverbial slang did this halfwit get to the position of such responsibility.

Do they realise how much they stand out as insane when this kind of crazed authoritarian proverbial ‘poo’ escapes from their pea sized psychopathic minds.

Is the price formthe test correct or is it an urban myth?

If the former the Government should allocate some of its budget, such as that earmarked for submarines, to initiate a proper free testing scheme.

Public health policies including bans on (selected) mass gatherings.. No more pesky students fooling around with their mobile phone lights en masse. How convenient.

So instead of having an open policy to educate people as to what to do if they feel they may have symptoms and then treat people freely when going to hospital, they wish to do the above and actually drive people underground!!

This is Thai style, draconian !!

number two of the most stupid government in the world, behind us government ,is really thailand.

fortunately stupidity is not a virus!!!
