Featured Replies

Hi

I just ordered pair of Versace shoes and some t-shirts from Europe. my stuff dispatched by DHL.

will i be subjected to pay duties in Bangkok? anybody has any experience?

Courier deliveries normally attract duties and VAT,that's one reason

I never use them.  Brand names...customs is going to love you.

regards Worgeordie

Yes, you will be charged, as worgeordie confirms.

DHL is one of the courier companies that act on behalf of the Customs Dept to collect duty and VAT on delivery of goods from overseas.  It will all be detailed on the delivery slip.

It would have been cheaper to fly to singapore, buy them there and wear them for a day before you fly back.

30% Tax on shoes ☹️

how they calculate 30%?

30% on retail price in Thailand?

30% on full retail price or 30% on receipt which is after sale?

In my case it was 30% of the declared value on the customs form , which was declared correctly, now if the declared value had been something totally out of line low..they might have used some other method ?

I bought these shoes with 50% discount. anyways Versace in EU is already cheaper at full price when comparing to BKK. So wondering how they will calculate 30% tax.  I would have receipt which will say 50% discount. but Thai custom is pain.

I believe it is cost/shipping/insurance times the duty rate with 7% VAT added.  I avoid like the COVID-19
