Isolated thundershowers are forecast for the Central, the East and the South, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Saturday (February 29).

Southeasterly winds and a southerly prevail over the East and the Central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, while weak easterly winds blow across the Gulf, the department said. Cool mornings continue in the North and the Northeast, while light fog and an increase in temperature during the day are forecast for the upper country.

From March 3-5, another high pressure will extend to upper Thailand and the South China Sea, resulting in thundershowers with gusty winds over upper Thailand, the department said.

People in the upper part of the country have been advised to stay safe from severe conditions and beware of big trees and unsecured billboards that could be brought down by the winds. Farmers are advised to prepare for damage to crops.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Cool weather with light fog in the morning; temperature lows of 16-22 degrees and highs of 34-37 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 6-14 degrees on hilltops.

Northeastern region: Cool weather with light fog in the morning; temperature lows of 18-21 degrees, highs of 33-34 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 10-15 degrees on hilltops.

Central region: Partly cloudy with isolated light rains; temperature lows of 23-24 degrees, highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius.

Eastern region: Cloudy with isolated thundershowers; temperature lows of 22-25 degrees, highs of 28-37 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 22-26 degrees, highs of 32-35 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 23-25 degrees, highs of 33-36 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area, temperature lows of 24-25 degrees, highs of 33-36 degrees Celsius.

I thought that the light fog was actually heavy pollution. I'm glad that the weather people have cleared it up for me and I can now rest assured that the grey blanket over Misty days throughout all of CM is just a light fog. Thank you ????

This is how they used to fool the Chinese people into thinking there was no pollution issue in china. The weather forecast would tell everyone it will be foggy when in reality it was pollution.

Here on the outskirts of Udon, it is months since we saw rain! 15th September to be exact! My area still has plenty of water thankfully, the cool weather has helped a lot though it is obviously a little dry everywhere, never known it as cool this late in the year, days are hot but not had a morning above 20c this year.

There is a clue - concrete road construction of poor quality giving off dust constantly, it isn't just fires burning causing this - there are no fires in Pattaya and the dust levels are horrendous, IMO poor construction (done on the cheap) of concrete roads is a primary cause

Why doesn't someone go out and secure the ef''ing billboard, or better still, take it down first.
