I'm moving from BKK to Khon Kaen, and would be grateful for some pointers.

My visa is a Thailand Elite visa, which is technically a class of tourist visa.  I'll be renting a house in Khon Kaen.

Do I have to submit a TM27 form in person to the Khon Kaen immigration office?  And if so, must I do this within 24 hours of arriving at my new house in Khon Kaen?  Are there immigration agents who can do this for me?  The Thailand Elite people do not offer their concierge service in Khon Kaen.

Do I have to submit a TM30 within 24 hours of arriving at my new house?  If so, is reporting online sufficient, or must I go in person to the Khon Kaen immigration office, at least the first time?  Must I have filed the TM27 in person before filing the TM30 online?

Also, in relation to online TM30 reporting, my assumption is that my new landlord won't want to be bothered with this, and so I'll need a copy of his Thai ID card, a copy of the house blue book, a copy of the lease agreement, and a power of attorney from the landlord in order to register for filing the TM30 online.

I've read about a requirement for 'tax stamps' on the power of attorney forms submitted in person as part of the TM30 process; must I somehow obtain these elusive, mysterious 'tax stamps' and adhere them to the power of attorney, and then scan the power of attorney for upload? If so, pointers on how and where to obtain them would be welcome.

Thanks in advance for information regarding the above, it's greatly appreciated!

TM-27 is ( in theory ) past history.

TM-30 and TM47 in effect, if you

Leave Thailand, file new TM-30 upon return

RULE #1 ASK at your LOCAL IO what forms are necessary for THEIR office.

Take your utility deposit receipts and Lease to qualify as "Possessor" if your landlord fails to give you the necessary documents or make the TM-30

( Below modified )

Section 38 : The house – master, the owner or the ==>> possessor <<== of the residence, or the hotel manager where the alien, receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom ( NOTE: Visas, ALL extensions of stay based on ???XXXXX??? are temporary ) has stayed, must notify the competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that hours , dwelling place or hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned. If there is no Immigration Office located in that area , the local police official for that area must be notified.

My understanding is the Thailand Elite visa is NOT exempt from any of the various TM visas. How strict your local immigration branch is about filling out TM forms by the letter of the law is another story.

That was quick, I only heard it was being enforced since this year to replace the TM28.

If I move to a new rented condo in the same building in Jomtien and the owner takes the TM30, do I still have to do the TM27?

Within 24 hours? I move on Saturday, guess they're closed Sunday. I'm on Non-O Retirement ext.

When moving to another province permanently you must submit the TM30. Otherwise you can't do 90 days reports or annual extensions at the new local immigration office. The 90 days report is a verification you're staying at the last reported address, and when moving to another province, that address will be the old one in a another province if you don't submit a TM30.

I suggest you get a copy of the TM30 report or the receipt if done in person to show immigration.

Not sure if they will want a TM27. I don't think they are all that strict on the 24 hours requirement.

Since they changed the requirements for the TM30, you don't even need to submit a TM30 when coming back from abroad if you're coming back to the last reported address (and put that address on the arrival card). But it's possible you can find an immigration office out in the sticks which hasn't got a clue about the new requirements.
