The Department of Airports will ask the Transport Ministry this week to consider its proposal to cut aviation fees at its 28 airports to ease the burden on airlines and businesses suffering from the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, said director-general Tawee Gasisam-ang on Monday (March 2).

Among the measures will be a 50 per cent cut in rental fees for business operators in passenger terminals, 50 per cent reduction in landing fees and a 90 per cent cut in parking fees.

The measures will last from March to August this year.

If approved, the plan will be forwarded to the cabinet for consideration.

“Airlines and businesses at the airports have suffered from declining passenger numbers, due mainly to the impact from the Covid-19 coronavirus,” he added.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand said it would ask the Civil Aviation Board when it meets on March 6 to consider relief measures proposed by some 20 airlines suffering the effects of the virus outbreak.

I hope the help is refused. The prices in Thailand’s airports is a joke.

I liked the bosses better when they were losing baht...they increase prices...this lowering of prices is confusing and could result in lower prices for hotel rooms, condos, and housing.

What is happening?

will prices go up or down, for people who need to fly and I don't meed tourists

Perfect thai logic.

Cut the landing fees.... will make the airlines land their... empty aircrafts. More.

They will think : "such a bargain in Suva ! Allez send all our float !"

????

I told you that the virus was exciting for every small civil servant, bureaucrats, with a uniform, in this country (AKA all of them).

They can come out and send an inane idea in front of TV cameras and journalists, and look important. In charge.

Its obvious. And it's already a festival.

Wait for the outcry when the rents are increased back the their current level when things go back to normal.
