The government plans to give away 30 million reusable cloth masks to 10 million people or three per person, said Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit today (March 5) after a meeting with related parties on ways to solve the problem of supply shortage amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

PARIS (Reuters) - A high-speed TGV train running between Strasbourg in eastern France and Paris derailed on Thursday after a land slip, injuring 22 people including one seriously, local officials said.

KASTANIES, Greece/EDIRNE, Turkey (Reuters) - Greece has repulsed nearly 35,000 migrants trying to cross onto its territory illegally since Turkey opened its border nearly a week ago, government sources said on Thursday, as it prepares to deport hundreds of others who made it through.

MUMBAI (Reuters) - India has ramped up the screening of travellers to keep the coronavirus at bay but a flurry of new cases has experts warning that it may be hard to contain a spread in densely populated South Asia with its generally poor medical infrastructure.

What returning labourers can expect

Thai labourers returning from South Korea are being screened for symptoms of Covid-19 before and after boarding their flights and anyone suspected must stay in supervised quarantine for at least 14 days, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Thursday (March 5).

Planned Phuket ’airport expressway’ to cost B1.39bn per kilometre

PHUKET:-- New budget figures for the proposed expressway linking Sakoo to Koh Kaew have been set at B30 billion, equating to roughly B1.4bn per kilometre for the 22.4km route – a staggering increase on the purported figures from June 2017, which estimated the project costs at approximately B5.5bn.

Thailand begins disinfecting packages sent from abroad, despite WHO's reassurance

BANGKOK, March 5 (Reuters) - Thailand’s postal services began disinfecting all packages received from overseas on Thursday to counter the spread of the coronavirus, although the World Health Organisation has said it is safe to receive post from badly affected countries, like China.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand needs to invest in education and create jobs in higher-income sectors, the World Bank said in a report on Thursday that showed a rising rate of poverty as the country's economy slowed.
