Indian Visas business/employment - need for Thai work permit?

Recommended Posts

Anyone applied for an Indian employment visa in Thailand as a foreigner? I am hearing one can only do this if a permanent Thai residence visa holder or with a Thai work permit? Any truth to this or rationale when the work would be in India? Agent is saying applicant can only apply in country of citizenship, but they live in Thailand with wife and kids for many years.

Any experience please welcomed.

Our experience this week with India was it's a no go in Bangkok, need to go back to home country to apply now. No reasons explained, but cannot expect any more from an outfit like VFS I suppose.

VFS do as they're instructed by the Indian Embassy, the VFS website is very clear in saying that foreign nationals applying in Bangkok need to complete the appropriate form

https://www.vfsglobal.com/India/Thailand/English/pdf/ref_form.pdf

VFS said:

Please study with the General instruction of the Embassy’s Website

Business Visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish an industrial /business venture or to explore possibilities to set up industrial/business venture, or wants to purchase/sell industrial products in India.

*Validity: Duration of visa will depend on contractual terms in each case.*

*For more information please refer to www.mha.gov.in

All foreign nationals applying for visa in Bangkok are required to fill Reference Form along with the online visa Online Application. Please CLICK HERE to download form.

Yes the VFS web site is very clear. I our case my associate completed the online application form inclusive all required inputs and submitted these with the support documents which VFS accepted only to be rejected 6 days later by embassy with a notification to apply in ones country of citizenship without any reason given.

A mute point now of course as all Indian embassies are stopping visas until mid April earliest.
