Thailand road carnage: Bodies all over the road in Chonburi horror smash

Daily News reported that there were bodies all over the road after a motorcycle carrying four people, including two young children, was involved in a collision with a car.

 

Three people from the same family were killed and one boy is in hospital.

 

A relative who arrived on the horrific scene on Route 3245 in Bor Thong district said that Phusanisa, 23, had been to collect two children aged 4 and 7 from school and a 50 year old man from a center for the handicapped.

 

Phusanisa, Sanchai, 50, and a four year old called Thanyachanok in Kindergarten 1 were dead at the scene.

 

A boy thought to be seven years old was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

 

The four family members were on a Fino motorcycle that was involved in a collision with a Vios car. The occupants of the car, a 37 year old woman and 32 year old man were also taken to hospital.

 

Daily News said the accident occurred when the car swerved to avoid a motorcycle and hit the family on another bike traveling in the opposite lane.

It never ceases to amaze me that these people can't recognise reckless driving, and driving with undue care and attention, which it seriously seems to be the case here, and immediately charge the drivers with it. No surprise, just a normal day here.

 

Nothing will change but prepare for another 10+ pages of advice from expats and visitors that don't understand the Thais don't give a fig. 

 

 

4 people on a bike I thought motorbikes were made for 2 people It is just murder on wheels and it goes on day afer day with a useless police force doing nothing to help the situation

Hmm, what if that another motorbike did something that make the car swerving? And you blame direct to car driver. 

An all to common occurance here. What do we know by  the above.   Car swerved to avoid a motorcycle , did the motorcycle just pull out as happens very often or was it just going along and the Vios driver texting/on phone .    4 on a scooter , so the one in charge has little or no control.   Same same every day . If my TW reads this she will just say " This is Thailand '.  Life goes on  , or not.

Difficult to speculate what actually happened here but it is not mentioned if the other motorcyclist involved stopped or fled the scene. They could have been the main catalyst for the accident occurring although the Vios driver must have been speeding as well. R.I.P

Without any doubt it was the car driver's fault in not anticipating danger. How do I know? Well, having driven in Thailand for over 5 years, it's become my norm to engage defensive driving at all times - because for the very reason that the majority of other road users could well be idiots.

Jeez thats nasty, any helmets or motorbike licences involved ?

If the car driver was paying proper attention and looking well ahead and scanning all lanes, as experienced driver should do, then the action taken by the driver when the other bike moved across would not be to swerve into the path of an oncoming bike.

 

The car driver was at fault, and probably the other bike rider too.  Plus were the kids wearing helmets?

 

Looks like nobody but the kids were innocent here.

What a truly horrific and sad "Accident "

RIP the poor casualties, and my condolences to the victims families and Loved ones.

When I learned to drive back in the Uk in 1972 ( I think ), My Instructor upon sitting in the Car with me would always say " threat every other Road user as a complete Idiot "

Words that I remember to this day, and on more than one occasion saved me from having an Accident here in Thailand.

In 11 years here out on the road I have learned to expect the unexpected!   Up here in the sticks I have a habit of tooting the horn at a lot of bike riders.   The habit of pulling left to make a right hand turn,  blinker or not is an epidemic. The old entitled grannies who think they can ride anyway they like and always have right of way.  The drunks are the worst...who often ride junk bikes with no lights!

Going by reports here on TV, drivers always seem to swerve first rather than braking.  Inevitably, they end up hitting something else with greater consequences than hitting the object they swerved to avoid.

But it's crazy with 4 people on a motorbike. It is absolutely impossible to controll the bike if something goes wrong.

It is not said in the article, but wouldn't you swerve when suddenly in the middle of the night a motorcycle without lights and a driver all in black clotches suddenly appears in front of your car?

I would.

 

Very sad for the family on the motorcycle and wish the driver of the car stenght with carrying this horror scene for life.

 

i often watch people on bikes driving down the main street of my small town,they spend most of the time scanning the shops and houses on either side,instead of looking ahead. I drive very defensive here and always take it for granted that the person in front or behind is very likely to do something completely stupid and as a falang it will be my fault.

thai drivers/riders have no patience and refuse to wait till safe to overtake , they simply swerve to the other side of the road without looking and expect any car or bike in that lane to stop for them, we see this every day. They do not want to stop or slow down, even puddles of water and potholes will see them swerving to the opposite side of the road without looking, I have had my side mirrors smacked a few times when these idiots simply swerve and refuse to slow down or brake then accelerate to get away, its their menatallity that no one else matters, in this case they have killed people and should be locked up for murder because that is exactly what they did by refusing to slow down and wait till safe to overtake, happens too often here, thai drivers/riders need to learn they  cannot do as they please on the roads and need to stay on their own side of the centre line

And I would like to see the driver that has the nerves to decide between one(?) dead or four dead in fractions of a second.

I was driving in a perfectly safe manner on a clear open road when a motorbike came straight out from the road i was passing on my left hand side, believe me if I had not swerved violently two young girls would not have woken up this morning, I am a U.K. trained blue light driver with 44 years experience, in Thailand driving whilst expecting the unexpected you can get surprised.

The perception gene is missing from Thais hence why this horror show will never end????Rip

Yes, but you haven’t got a ‘Third eye’ and can’t see what TheeEyedRaven can see in his dreams of perfection....  when it comes to quality BS the ThaiVisa 'online perfectionist’ has many beaten hands down.

Buy a large safe car/truck - and dont ride a motorbike on the main roads in Thailand (or a bicycle).
