Obviously you never have been in the rural Thailand. 

In the majority of the rural areas of Thailand where have families that lives in villages around their farms that are farming rice exc products. 

People are poor and (most of them) can not afford cars....they commute with 30.000 to 40.000 baht motorbikes....schools are 2-4 kilometers away in distance and a member of the family pick up many times 2-3 children driving very carefully in a two-way (straight line) road from the village to school....

I seen this and done this many times. 

It is just how every day life continues to be in the poor rice farm villages. 

The roads are not great but are good enough....have good markings for not driving fast around schools and everybody knows what time people are going to pick up childrens.... and it is literally obvious because you can see hundreds of people picking up children from school and driving carefully back to home. 

It only takes 1 crazy and iresponsible car driver that is speeding and don't care for the situation to head crash to a family with motorbike... This can and will  happen every day if people don't want to care for themselves and the others....it is not an accident it is a way of driving without considering other people's life. 

 

Shouldnt be 4 people riding on a bike in the first place. Thailand should look over laws and regulations and inforce the laws properly. And should attend to drivingschool and impliment longer driving courses so they hopefully learn something

I have been driving in Thailand for 50 years and say little has changed other than many more vehicles on the roads. There is no driving discipline or enforcement so always be alert.

Ahhhh, the one with no helmet or licence.... what additional punishment do you think he should be dealt ?

Seems the in-depth accident investigation has been finalised and it's definitely the fault of the other motor bike - - no fault can be attached to the car driver even if the driver wasn't paying attention and had to swerve into the path of the oncoming bike. 

Case closed. 

Responsibility for accidents in Thailand is a lot more related to the inactivity of a given community rather than the action of some individuals.

It's a horrible accident indeed. And RIP to the victims.

There is so much to say about driving abilities and 'The four family members were on a Fino motorcycle'.

However there will be no change at all if not ordered by improvement of road safety ordered by PM. 

But he got his "escort" when travelling or he takes the heli....

And......getting used to have 30.000 people less every year. ????

Blimey, a lot of experts on the matter, but only 1 expert really. Darwinism always wins out.

Accidents like this are all the time all over the Thai news. And many Thais attended funerals of family and friends who died in bad accidents.

 

And what do they learn from this? It seems nothing! Absolutely nothing.

They continue to ride without helmet.

They continue to ride with many people on small bikes.

They continue to drive drunk.

They don't use the seat belts.

They stack lots of people in pickup bed and drive like crazy.

The list goes on an on.

 

Maybe the one thing they do is buy another amulet or some more fresh flowers or get another blessing from the monks.

Do you think he  cares, didn't he say some time back, doesn't matter just have another kid, or words to that effect. 

I've seen more than once somebody driving a motorbike with a baby on their knee, driving one handed while cradling the unaware little one. Absolute insanity. If you really loved and cared for a young life like that, something should trigger in your mind when you plonk one on your knee and ride a motorbike around one handed surely

As much as I agree with everything you've said, think back 50 plus years to the UK, most of Europe and North America. Nobody wore seatbelts, people often drove drunk (Formula 1 races often had drunk drivers in them) and the roads were a free for all. My point is that it takes time for countries to develop the social norms that fit in line with what we have in the West. In part, it needs to come from the authorities pressing hard on people violating laws, without that very little will change.

Very sad for the family on the motorcycle and wish the driver of the car stenght with carrying this horror scene for life.

 

Correct it is not said in the OP but most thinking people would have assumed from the photo that the incident did, in all probability, occur in daylight.

A defensive driver, and we don't know the full circumstances of the incident, would have braked hard and allowed the incoming motorbike to hit him or be side swiped to minimise injury. Certainly would not have traversed the median strip.

We will never know the full story.

After death reincarnation occurs in a week to 10-days.

So no biggie.
