Bangkokians have queued up at the parking lot of Plaza Lagoon shopping mall to buy face masks provided by the Department of Internal Trade (DIT).

On Thursday (March 5), Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit announced that the DIT will launch a caravan of 111 Blue Flag cars throughout the country to sell the masks.

Twenty-one cars will sell face masks in Bangkok and its metropolitan areas, while 90 in other provinces.

Some 300,000 face masks will be distributed per day, with each pack containing four pieces priced at Bt10 a pack. Every person is allowed only one pack.

In addition to the mask, the campaign cars sell other products, namely, eggs vegetable oil, and instant noodles.

This is intended to keep the public calm and to give the appearance that the government is  helping.

Sadly these masks are ineffective because;

1. They  do not provide an effective seal

2. Normal use makes them  moist after 20 minutes or so. In  Thailand's outdoors sweat will shorten the time. Once the mask is  damp, its efficacy is further reduced.

3. These are masks for short term wear. people will wear them over extended periods of time. They will just be dirty things on people's faces.

Long queues with people who might infect each other.

Infection queues!

best thing you can do is keep your immune system strong and avoid contamination.

So queuing up in long dense lines to receive instant noodles and vegetable oil?.....oh dear LOL
