Rural people staying in their home, many growing or raising their own food. How are they going to get it? They don't even need the  masks that are out of stock everywhere.

Postman delivers infected mail, etc. No one can grow all their own food- still need to go shopping. Even if they planted the seeds last week it's going to be a while before they can eat the produce. I know farmers and they are too busy farming to be growing food, unless going to live on meat alone.

Me too. It would require a massive amount of federal governmental pressure, like the withdrawal of even more funding, than the $30 million he cut from the epidemiology budget of the CDC not long after coming into office, which was bone headed. Inane. Ignorant. Non visionary. Insipid. Surly. Cruel. Mean spirited. Simply dumb and dumber.

This was from 25 months ago: Global health organizations said critical momentum will be lost if epidemic prevention funding is reduced, leaving the world unprepared for the next outbreak. The risks of deadly and costly pandemic threats are higher than ever, especially in low- and middle-income countries with the weakest public health systems, experts say. A rapid response by a country can mean the difference between an isolated outbreak and a global catastrophe. In less than 36 hours, infectious disease and pathogens can travel from a remote village to major cities on any continent to become a global crisis.

He actively diminished the country's ability to respond to just such a crisis:

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Defending against criticism of his handling of the coronavirus, President Trump suggested the other day that he could hardly have been expected to be ready for such an unexpected crisis.

“Who would have thought?” he asked during a visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the nerve center for the government’s response to the outbreak. “Who would have thought we would even be having the subject?”

Correct. Who would have thought? Any individual with an IQ of at least 100, and anyone who was actually concerned about the American people, and not votes, votes, votes. I have been saying for a long time that Trump is a very dangerous man. Events like this really highlight that fact.

Postman delivers "infected mail? Where do you get such nonsense?

"Because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures,"  US CDC

"It's not going to be transported on a box," says Dr. Michael Ison of Northwestern University, who studies viral infections among transplant patients, who have weakened immune systems.

"There is no evidence from any previous outbreak that anyone has ever gotten infected from a package," Elizabeth McGraw, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics at Pennsylvania State University, "it is highly unlikely that the virus could survive for multiple days outside or inside a cardboard box, for example, that contains something an infected person had sneezed on or handled."What we know about these viruses is that they don't last very long on surfaces, and that's particularly the case for a very porous surface" such as cardboard, McGraw explains.

This virus has proved that the whole world is "incompetent" at dealing with it.

The only way to conquer spread would be to lock the entire world up at home, close all borders,

cease all trading and business, stop all work, flights, trains, travel, visiting, shopping, walks in the park....

everywhere. Right from the day the first case was announced in early January. Can that be done?

NO!

All windows for prevention have expired....containment is a pipe dream...now mitigation is the only way

forward. Until then, panic needs to be actively discouraged or hospitals will be over run and even medical pros

will be too infected to care for patients. I fully understand why governments need to sound optimistic

because the alternative is too horrific to imagine.

So stop with the proselytising....it's tempting to keep bashing Trump because it's an election year.

If it was Biden in the hot seat I bet he would need constant reminding about what the name of the virus

was.....and that his name is Joe.

China is doing it right now. New cases and mortalities are going down every day. They started at the end of january...6 weeks ago. It can be done. Next they gonna have to make sure the virus not coming back in from other countries.

The NBA suspended their season today... Trump cancelled his rallies due to the latest "democrat hoax"... Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Rudy Gobert all confirmed they have it... And Trump suspended travel from Europe for 30 days...

Bit too quick on the draw there- try thinking before shooting. Infected postman infects mail just before it's collected- how about that?

there is likely very low risk

it is highly unlikely

Do you understand what you posted? Low risk is NOT no risk.

You believe what the Chinese government says?
