Get organized, as they would do in a 'Western' country. 1 million people on the streets of BKK is hard to ignore ...

And look at what the West has ended up with. . .

Trump, Johnson, Macron, Trudeau, Merkel. . .

Need I go on?

So the difficulties of democratic systems in our modern huge and hugely complex societies are a reason to put up with authoritarian & military rule?

When the Thai populous finally wake up to the sheer ineptness of the politicians they will turn on them.

Many Thais in employment, business imports/exports/tourism/agriculture/farming are all feeling the sheer struggle of the burden put on them by the government.

The dying economy, lack of tourism, the Baht strength, pollution, Corvid 19 and all the other issues...

the straw will soon break the normally quiet back of the people, then look-out.

They are already more than awake it's the stirring bit which is already happening that needs to gather pace.

Thais are passive to a point, then the red mist kicks in and .... boom!

For so many reasons the economy is plunging and taking down employment with it, those are real people facing real family debt issues.

With little financial help from the government and less chance of re-employment this year they are going to start kicking back against the system.

When they can't afford to re-pay all their monthly bills, send the kids to school, or buy sufficient food and start going hungry they will look at the elite parading around as grand masters spouting were are in control. the fuse will be lit!

Not the point I was making. But more than happy to debate the merits of both systems some time if you haved a few hours to spare - preferably somewhere shady over a cool beer.

The sharp economic downturn that the virus is inflicting on every economy will sharpen minds and actions in ways that would have been unthinkable 6 months ago.

Economic turmoil usually does have that effect but I don't think there's anything, including an extinction level asteroid strike, that would propel Thais into action. Well, maybe if you banned facebook.

But they shot some of them the last time that happened.

Which, in countries where people (eg students) have the guts to fight for their rights, would mean even more people out on the streets.
