As far as I remember, when the virus was identified, it was already in the US. There is no evidence that closing the border would have significantly reduced its diffusion. Same for the current ban. The coronavirus is already spreading inside the country and closing border now will not change much.

 

As has been already objected by another poster, much more people died from usual flu under Trump, i.e. 61,200 in 2018/2019. Following your line of reasoning, Trump should be held responsible, right?
