A food court at Sinthorn Tower on Wireless Road, in Bangkok's Pathumwan district has redesigned seating arrangements to create more space between tables and chairs.

The new arrangement also allows only one person to sit at each table, with everyone facing the same direction.

A staff revealed that the move is designed to promote social distance in an attempt to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends maintaining at least one metre (3 feet) distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing, as the Covid-19 virus can be transmitted through liquid droplets from the nose or mouth.

Netizens applauded the food court’s effort on social media and suggested that other food courts and restaurants should apply the same measure in their establishments to ensure customers’ confidence to dine out.

Good idea indeed, and so orderly

Can I book a table for 6 please???

Great idea, but how do they rearrange the line when ordering the food?

So if food courts can do that why can't bars stay open and do the same???

My advise: take seat in back row. Regarding lines, I did see photo of Italians in line, each about 2m apart. Don't think it was photo shopped... Wonder how that would fly here? ????

Really good idea.  Won't help, but good try.

Who's disinfecting all those plastic table surfaces between diners?

What if the food workers are infected?

Great idea. Unoriginal though. Honey ????

all now disposable crockery/cutlery?

(saves dishwashers from splash from infected chinaware)

 - akin to the good old way
