March 20, 20206 yr I would have posted this in Audio and Visual but that site seems to have disappeared. Anyway, bought a Roku Express from Amazon a few months back because I never had a Smart TV at the time and I wanted to watch Netflix. However, I now have a new Sony Bravia and find that the Roku Express is next to useless in Thailand as it has no actual Search button and most of the decent free streaming sites aren't available for Thailand. In retrospect I would have been better off getting the Firestick.
March 20, 20206 yr My first device was a Roku..it is abominable. Suck it up and send the coin on a Nvidia Shield off amazon. A whole new level of awesome. Be prepared to spend couple of hours on youtube learning how to set it up with the right apps. A wireless keyboard is a must with a Shield. Save you loads of aggro typing out urls during download and set up of apps. Shield is one of the few devices to offer a native Netflix app with 1080p Edited March 20, 20206 yr by JHolmesJr
March 20, 20206 yr $40 dollar firestick 3 years ago and never looked back nor missed any show or movie I wanted to watch ( though that depends on how you load it)

The Rokus can be usable here for non-Thai content, but you really need to be using a router-based VPN service or a paid DNS redirect service in order to accomplish that expat functionality. On the other hand, I think you can successfully use a Roku device to access a Netflix Thailand subscription if that's all you needed/wanted to do.

I said that's why I bought it in the first place, but it's no longer necessary for that now I have a Smart TV.
