Jonathan Fairfield
Neighbouring provinces follow Bangkok in closing many public outlets Five provinces bordering Bangkok will follow the capital's lead by ordering the temporary closure of many Covid-19 high-risk venues. Interior Ministry permanent secretary Chatchai Promlert said on Saturday that the communicable diseases committees of each of the five provinces had made the same resolution as the one by Bangkok earlier in the day. The affected venues are department stores and some mass gathering venues, except supermarkets and convenience stores. The five provinces following Bangkok are: Samut Prakarn, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi and Pathumthani. Nonthaburi, Samut Prakarn and Samut Sakhon provinces have ordered the closure of many high-risk venues from March 22 to April 12, while Pathumthani has undertaken similar measures from March 22 to April 2 and Nakhon Pathom from March 22 to March 31. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration earlier ordered the temporary closure of 26 types of venues it deems to be high risk for Covid-19 infection in the capital from March 22 to April 12. Meanwhile, some border provinces have temporarily closed some permanent crossings in a move to slow the escalation of the Covid-19 situation. They have also closed some areas where only temporary access is permitted for movement of goods. Admiral Hornblower
I was told today (22nd) by someone who wanted to return to Bangkok from here in Hua Hin that this is not possible as all roads into city now closed due to Covid-19. I'm not spreading fake news, I'm asking 'cause my family are due to travel back from Sarakham on Tuesday - does anybody know??

webfact
Covid-19: 5 provinces around Bangkok impose tough measures Workers cleaning up Morchit 2 bus terminal on Sunday Morning Bangkok’s five neighbouring provinces of Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon have imposed drastic measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic by closing a range of retail business, effective as of today. The measures, to take effect until April 12, are similar to those the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has imposed on the city also effective starting today. They include closing of shopping malls, sport gyms, and beauty salons. On-site dining is also banned though food shops and restaurants can open but only for take-out orders and home delivery. Meanwhile, the government’s decision to postpone the extended Songkran holiday is not expected to stop people from leaving the city in large numbers. In anticipation of a mass exodus of migrant workers from Bangkok, the Disease Control Department has instructed all provincial governors to screen, track and arrange preventive measures in an attempt to limit possible further spread of COVID-19. Rikito
Why doesn’t the government decides, before it is too late, to prevent right away all moving before it is too late and in the spirit of Thainess ?

natway09
Stop all non essential travel altogether,. If we do not ALL stay in one place we are just helping the virus get around. Can the Government not see this ? Maybe too late now?

marko kok prong
I raised this subject yesterday, sure all official songkran functions are off but this will not stop the annual exodus of people returning to their home towns and villages to party with family and friends,so an inveitable spread of the virus, but how to stop them, block the roads, not possible,in fact unless they go wuhan style,it is impossible.
