FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Germany tightened curbs on social interaction on Sunday, including a ban on public meetings of more than two people, to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

"The great aim is to gain time in the fight against the virus," Chancellor Angela Merkel told a press briefing.

For at least the next two weeks, people will not be allowed to form groups of more than two in public unless they live together in the same household or the gathering is work-related, she added.

As part of a bundle of stricter rules, restaurants can only offer takeaway services and hairdressers and beauty, massage and tattoo parlours must close.

Yes, we FAILED to isolate the country! So sorry, we now have coronavirus, but I didn't feel like isolating the country while Wuhan was on TV for 2 months.

Now you people do it! And if you don't, 25000 Euro fine and imprisonment!

It's good to be Queen!

Poland will be relieved.

Note that Germany has an extremely low death rate from The Virus - a third of one percent - compared with some other countries with a lot of cases.

That means no more threesomes !

Only public threesomes. And let's be honest, that's a lot of work to keep an audience satisfied, let alone the other two. It's a mercy really.

Public gathering limited to 2 = it's OK for an elderly / a young child,  to be accompanied by 1 person to go where they need to.

A sensible measure in troubled times, neither as over the top as welding people's doors shut (hello, China) nor as ignorant as some other governments still are (hello, Boris).

This is because they have one of the best health care systems in the world.  Germany can afford to give excellent care to all of their infected, but if this crisis continues to grow to the point of overwhelming their healthcare, you will see death rates rise to match global figures.

They must be at a tipping point, which would explain the announcement of such a draconian rule.
