The Bang Lamung district chief and head of the Pattaya police descended on a bar in Moo 9, Nong Prue after complaints that it was serving foreigners drinks in contravention of the current ban due to the coronavirus outbreak.

They found 30 male and female tourists carrying on as normal, happily enjoying their drinks.

Amnat Charoensri and Pol Col Khemmarin Phitsamai arrested the owner of the English Rose, a Thai woman called Natwadee, and charged her with illegal opening.

The Pattaya News said she was brazenly serving drinks to the foreigners despite the ban.

District chief Amnat said the ban initiated by Chonburi governor Phakrathorn Thianchai must be observed until the end of the month.

He asked for everyone to cooperate.

And Europeans will find a drink at any cost. No customers would mean no bar opening. Think about it.

It's advertised as a guesthouse primarily. What are the rules now if these are the guests?

The governments of the world ALL failed to isolate their countries on time, when the writing was on the wall in Wuhan for months.

Now we all have to pay the price for this as the governments palm off the responsibility for isolation on the people and ask them to do what they could not.

If the governments had isolated their countries on time we would not be in this situation.

You can drink beer at home if its a life and death situation for you. The point you have forgotten is it's against the law. And what if all the bars and malls did the same thing? Apart from all that it's just irresponsible and gives the rest of us a bad name at a time we are all living in a foreign country, and can ill afford to flout their laws and be presented up to the Thai people as a threat. Have a look though these pages, most farang criticising Thais and the government for not being careful

Yes, in an establishment that was told not to open and it being posted everywhere.  Ignorance is not Bliss.  Just look at the card players they arrested when they raided the illegal (Laughable) card competition.......just like darts...

English Rose?

EuthanASIA Rose should be more appropriate name.

Give these people the daily ignorance and stupidity award... with many such awards to be handed to coming 'winners'.....

Just clearing her stock... probably needs the money.

Arrested all of them then send them all off to be executed since they all don't give a shiit about themselves or others.

English rose

Epithet

English rose is a description, associated with English culture, that may be applied to a naturally attractive woman or girl of traditionally fair complexion who is from or is associated with England. The description has a cultural reference to the national flower of England, the rose, and to its long tradition within English symbolism.

Lol, ignorance of the law is no defence. Patrons had no idea why the triangle bar and every bar on Soi buakhao they passed were closed but this one was open?

Things will get tougher soon, restaurants will likely close also

On another site they claimed serving drinks without food. As if that was illegal.

Thanks, nice to know this English symbolism.

Today, every intelligent citizen on this planet should be aware of what the health authorities are repeating over and over and over again - social distancing.

Just because the bar is open, is it a smart move to walk in there? With THAT type of attitude, is there any chance of wiping out this COVID-19?

Maybe...nature thought it best to wipe out some...

Idiots can't help themselves.

They will feign ignorance, cite that Thailand has only 1 Corona death and 50 road deaths per day, and then say it's their right.

You can't fix stupid.

I mentioned this a while back in another thread, guest houses/hotels should be allowed to cater for their residents since they are staying there, restaurants should not be open to sitting customers - a fine example Treetown on soi Bukeow brazenly serving food and beers like nothing was going on (probably run and owned by a cop), restaurants should only be serving food as a take out or home delivery not to sitting customers - what is the difference between serving beers or serving food or both to passing customers ??????.........none whatsoever - THIS IS NOT AN ALCOHOL BANN

Somehow if you order food in a restaurant you can't be infected with COVID-19 ?

When would you ever see a government do something right??

yes agree - they seems to think there is an alcohol ban like a Buddhist holiday, as I said above from a COVID-19 aspect what is the difference between serving a beer or a fish supper to a sitting customer, this ban should have included restaurants and coffee shops unless they are providing home deliver or takeaway............NOW SITTING IN AT TABLES

As for Hotels and Guest Houses - residents only

I think members may be missing the point:

"The Bang Lamung district chief and head of the Pattaya police descended on a bar in Moo 9"

He has been seen (Big Joke stylee) to be doing his job.

Until the sentence of the 2 ladies, the one for the owners of this bar, the bar that Smedley mentioned (and probably a lot of others) has been passed down, there is no reason to believe that this "crackdown" will not just fade away........as with all the others.

Call me cynical but........."you know what they're like".

They want to drink together?

Put them all in a small cell together for a few days.

Irresponsible and disgusting behavior.

Lots of restaurants/bars are still open and advertising food and cold beers on a daily basis, until these places are closed down the same as bars nothing will change.

I know of a few places in korat refuse to close,  I hope they get what they deserve
