webfact
Covid-19: Khon Kaen shut down from today until April 12th - 28 kinds of places ordered closed immediately Picture: 77kaoded The governor of Khon Kaen province has issued an order for a mass shutdown in the north eastern province similar to that being experienced in Bangkok. Thaivisa notes that it would be easier to report what is staying open than what is closing. Somsak Jantrakul's order to run from today until April 12th will see restaurants, malls, the entertainment industry in all forms, theme parks, swimming pools, theaters and golf all cancelled for at least the next few weeks in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Top of a list of 28 items were restaurants and places serving drinks. Food can only be sold for take away and hotel restaurants can only serve food to guests. Malls are to shut with only supermarket and pharmacy sections to remain open. Restaurants in malls can only be used for takeaway. Eating areas next to convenience stores are shut as are restaurants in supermarkets. Markets of all descriptions are shut - only fresh and dried food and items for the preparation of food can be sold for consumption off the premises. Items for essential daily living can continue to be sold. Among other places closed are the following: Beauty parlors, body treatments, skating and rollerblading, theme parks, ten pin bowling, amusement arcades, computer games shops, golf courses and driving ranges, amulet shops, anything to do with cock fighting, all educational establishments, beauty clinics, spas, massage, bath houses, soapy massage, movie theaters, "sathan borikan" or places like bars and places of prostitution, sports stadia and other sports facilities, karaoke bars, billiards and snooker halls, boxing of all description and fishing and shrimping facilities. Meanwhile, a meeting was told that the province must prepare for the return of possibly thousands of workers fleeing the shutdown in Bangkok. Places like bus stations and the airport will have strict screening measures in place amid fears that the virus could be spread by returnees. Popular Post Assurancetourix
Every two or three months, we go to the big public hospital in Khon Kaen because our last daughter has an autoimmune disease and has to pass a series of regular exams ; then we go to the pharmacy of the hospital or generally the half m3 of the medications she needs to take for the next two or three months are usually free (but not always); We will therefore be going there at the beginning of April in a "confined" province; on the other hand the hospital will be it, as usual , crowded with people ... We do not yet have the Covid-19 because we live in a tiny village lost at the bottom of the assh*ole of Thailand; but there, we risk catching it. 2

I totally agree and sympathise - going to a hospital or indeed Immigration office is not somewhere I would like to be, utmost care required

A mate just wrote that some tetsaban folks were coming with pamphlets (rule of conduct) and four masks (two people in the household). Our village headman seems to have announced measures via the loudspeakers. As the daughter is member of the village health scheme we have no shortage of masks From now on: don't go public/shopping without a mask whether it's useful or not. You might earn evil looks without. All food takeaway only. Usual organisation, got some take out then proceeded to see noodle bars galore along the road on way back to hotel with loads of Thais huddled up for lunch all sitting outside. Also Amazon and others still open for sit ins.

Yeah they are pretty useless but if you do t wear them you do get daggers even though lots of Thais not wearing them. Obviously think we are carriers. Popular Post Michael Hare
Masks are in short supply. Got to use whatever one can get. Probably more effective than the cheap cotton types 3

There are two large public hospitals in KKC. As of today, Srinagarind (KKU) will let you register to get your meds delivered to you at home. You call to register, and they will look at your medical file and let you know if you are eligible. They said, today by phone, that it will usually take 1-2 weeks to learn if you are eligible, but since so many are already registering it will take longer right now.
