Thammasat University Hospital will be used as the first field hospital for Covid-19 patients, with the first lot of patients set to arrive on Wednesday.

Hospital Executive Committee chairman Professor Dr Surapon Nitikraipot said the Kittiwattana Building will receive these patients since other hospitals do not have enough beds, while Thammasat University Hospital has 308 beds that are available.

Rector Assoc Prof Gasinee Witoonchart said that Thammasat University had always supported people in the time of need and wished to continue doing so.

Hospital director Dr Pharuhat Tor-Udom said the building to be used was big and had complete facilities, but measures to receive Covid-19 patients would be stricter.

The Office of the Prime Minister has meanwhile asked people to have confidence in the public health system, which the government is totally supporting amid the Covid-19 situation.

Need to keep 10 hospitals in Bangkok free of the virus (if that is possible) to treat other

immediate requirements otherwise having to go to hospital becomes a death warrant in itself
