In all fairness this could not be as bad as being made out - IF - you can get an extension as you cannot leave the country due to flights being cancelled, meaning you are overstaying. Hitting people for not re-applying for a visa when it would be given for free potentially due to virus could just be punishing stupidity. Course it would be shocking to be fined for being unable to get a 'virus' extension due to immigration shutting and being hit Edited March 23, 2020 by RichardColeman 16 5 2

If the tourists have a long memory, they will never returm not only tourists. Once that horror has finished, many long-term expats treated like sh** will rethink to stay here. Thai-farang couples may prefer to pass all the hurdles to enable the Thai wifes to move back to the husbands home country and just visit LOS for holidays. No one expects to be able to stay 1month+ on overstays for free, but in this special situation they could make an exception for lets say 7-10 days (in addition to the anyway 7 day denied exempt stamp which costs 1900 THB). It`s up to a few morons in BKK to pass that order nationwide. Everything can be done within one day, but what you expect from guys who just have "military, military" in their pea-sized brains. Popular Post Walter Travolta
This isnt really a surprise surely? The Thai autocrats havent wanted Westerners here for a long time. All they do is find ways to punish and for what? The racist was moaning a couple of weeks ago that it is the dirty falangs fault this virus happened and that we are the lowest spenders for their economy. As a former business owner, you rely on your least spenders as your bread and butter to keep your business running daily, yet when a bumper order comes in, great! The autocrats havent learnt that and probably never will. They brag that Indians spend 10,000 baht a day when we all know thats rubbish. That figure has got to be calculated form outside investments NOT from what comes out of tourists pockets. They keep banging nails into the farang coffin and when the coffin is in the ground and the last shovel full of soil is strewn, they will wander why their coffers are low, no more tea money for no helmets etc haha Push someone in the chest too many times and you end up getting a punch on the beak. There are many places more welcoming than Thailand now without its dual pricing, blatant racism, girls scrolling through their phones while you are waiting for service, 7 eleven girls throwing your change at you, scowls behind smiles and so much more. I feel for the old g!ts who settled down here years ago into a fine and dandy life now worried they are going to have it all taken away, that cant be a good feeling. Ive only been coming here 7 years and even I have noticed a difference and most of my time has been under the junta! If they cannot show compassion in times like these, I hope the country goes under. They are basically China-Lite 70 6
Popular Post Psimbo
Finally- something to divert thaigeezers outrage away from the Beemers. ???? Ever think that some people (like those annoying 'French' lady parts on PCXs) may be trying to use the current problems as an excuse to overstay or just fade into the background? People overstaying on purpose and people who are not extending visas are just taking a chance. There is a system coming into play to assist people with genuine problems but its not going to kick in overnight, as seen by the big queues at Phuket Immigration today. Spare a thought for the coal face officers having to deal with nationals from a whole hodgepodge of countries- they are just trying to process people as they have been told to do. I would be surly at times as well dealing with some of the people I see in the Phuket Office. Two sides to every argument but genuine overstayers have no reason not to expect to be punished. 9 5 4

Popular Post Canuck1966
Might as well just round up all the foreigners and put them in a concentration camp Our embassies are worthless too, they should be putting some serious diplomatic and even military pressure on these goons Edited March 23, 2020 by Canuck1966 34 2
Popular Post zoza
it is par for the course from what I have witnessed lately, my friend had his brother die, he had already had an extension of thirty days. but after a long spell in ICU the funeral was arranged up country, my friend got letters from the hospital and the specialist who had overseen the brothers treatment for the last four months. he applied for a further extension to attend the funeral, and he was denied. two hours after contacting an Agent and handing over six thousand baht he was given the extension at the same desk. yes this is TIT unfortunately. Popular Post unamazedloso
any possability of class action lawsuit? Cant punish people when its no fault of their own. The immigration acts mean nothing in times like this unless this type of situation is mentioned which is the way i see it. Anyone care to represent this?. probably not. 1

Popular Post stephenterry
There are times when I despair of the Thai officialdom mentality. That's not knocking the minions who are just carrying out their jobsworth, or the general population - but for Buddha's sake there is a viral pandemic here in Thailand, and it needs to be contained before it kills off thousands in a few short weeks. Best advice is to stay at home, not being obliged to venture out to the freakin Imm office mingling with others to get a freakin extension, and increasing the risk of the virus infecting more people. 8

Popular Post Xonax
My 90 days notice was up for renewal friday last week. Since immigration has made no announcements, I decided to protect myself and send a younger local motorbike taxi driver to do the renewal, which cost me 200 Baht. Unlike a previous 90 days notification, this time a Power og Attorney was required, so he had to go back and get that and I had to pay twice. As usual the online 90 days notification didn´t work. 5
Popular Post Stargeezr
I am so glad to be gone from Thailand, and will not be back to Thailand except for funerals. I certainly will not stay longer than 1 month as I am sick of the visa <deleted>. It will be a nice day if Thailand will make their military quit trying to pretend to be a legit government.
