Chaos at Chaeng Wattana: Tourists queue for extensions as State of Emergency looms

Featured Replies

This government care about nearly nothing, and sure not about the tourists or permanent residents in the country. Just a shame how they handle the situation and Prayut, big daddy of everything or better of nothing is responsible. The result of this handling must be: all foreigners avoid to come to Thailand ever! And this must be going around the world. Maybe TAT take pics of the crowed at Immigration for their next campagne: Hub of incompetence for tourists!

Seems it's really only a matter of when, not if, they detect a cluster that had immigration in common. Not even sure if that will result in changes.

In the UK now all you need to do is an email to the Home Office and you get an automatic extension to May 31st. Not that difficult.

that is why the UK is the UK and thailand is thailand.

thai policies based on the perception that kindness is a sign of weakness.

seeing this in many variations makes me think how long I will go along with it....

i also started considering dropping thailand once and for all.

this corona drama expose the true nature of people and governments around the world,

and thailand's one is not so pretty....senior politicians involved in stealing

masks from their country...late reaction to a serious virus alert in neighbouring country...lies

and conflicting orders all over the board....scary.

i just hope this virus won't show it's real power anywhere in thailand, than

things will really get ugly.

This is a disaster in the making in many ways.

It only takes a few of those foreigners who have been travelling recently, carrying and spreading it without knowing it (if their symptoms haven't shown) and it will be a huge cluster.

God knows how many of those people lining up at C.W will cop a dose.

Then they will go on to infect their Thai families and gfs, and guess who will get the blame? (again)

On the other hand, since Thais are led to believe ALL foreigners are carrying and spreading this,

IF by some miracle, NO farangs catch it at C.W, the Thai authorities are going to look like absolute idiots.

If this hits the media the Thai public will (or should) be asking a lot of questions of the government.

At any rate, you would think 1000s of Thais will be asking WHY the government forced their farang husbands, fathers etc. to congregate like that and therefor put those farangs Thai families at risk.

You should apply for a job at immigration.

If I was back in my home country, I wouldn't for a second be hammering on tourists who didn't get back home in time. Ridiculous.

losers

Clear case of criminal negligence. They're caught out by their own stipidity. One rule for you no rules for us system.

hahaha nice! guess we know which sections need optimizing in future. better online tourist extensions and 90 days that work for all (or are scrapped altogether)

This is resolved today. Chaeng Wattana Is back to relative normality. They have moved 90 day reporting and tourist visa extensions to Muang Thong Thani.
I arrived at 7.30am for the non-o extension by marriage stamp (30 days after the application) and was done in 40 minutes and on my way back home. Very well organised and no queues whatsoever.

Basically what we witnessed  was visa hoarding, where everyone panicked and rushed out to get an extension whether the need was immediate or not.

Logic would dictate the numbers would dip as clarifications were made, tourist numbers dissipate and alternate systems are put in to place.

Total arrogant idiots...I hope they pay BIG.

Indonesia, demonstrates intelligence and grace by granting amnesty for all visitors and visa holders.
