Retirement Visa/90 Days

Featured Replies

The anniversary of my 'retirement visa' here in Pattaya is stamped in my passport 12th May 2007.

Due to public holidays and weekends, I've had to appear earlier and earlier for my last 3 x 90 day reportings.

The stamp on the stapled slip of paper in my passport says 23rd April for my next 90 day reporting,( obviously) this will in fact be my annual visa renewal appointment.

Do I have to report on the day of the stamp on the stapled slip of paper, (23rd April) or the day of my actual visa stamp (12th May).

I didn't bother to ask at my last visit to immigration, as I was really glad to just get out--- after a very, very long wait. :o

What happens to the missing days? Surely a year is a year? I have a feeling I'm about to lose out.

What do you think, or what do you know? :D

90 day reporting has absolutely nothing to do with extension of stay after the first time (start of 90 day reporting period). You make your normal 90 day report on your assigned day unless you leave the country - in which case you make it 90 days after you return.

There is no reason you can not do both things on April 23, or even a little earlier, this year but remember you must do both - just filling out the TM.7 for extension of stay is not a 90 day report for you.

thanks for the reply :o

sorry I don't think I've asked the question clearly,

By reporting on my assigned day on the 23rd April with a TM47 (this will be my 4th x 90 day) are you saying

I can then return for my retirement visa renewal on the 7th May?

If I do this fair enough, my question is if I also do the visa renewal TM7 on my assigned 90 reporting, then I'm losing 14 days of the annual visa.

Is there flexibility in the assigned days?

note

I have a personal arrangement for the( 3 month advanced) inward transfer of 800,000 baht, if my renewal date has to change it will give me some problems in 2008.

If you do your anual extension on 23rd April it will still expire on 12th May 2008. You will not lose any days.

Immigration likes you to do your extensions three to four weeks before they expire to allow for any missing items or changes. Your dates of extension will not change - it will still be 12 May every year. The 90 day report is likely not to be in sync every year but it does not require you appear as you can have someone do for you or use mail if outside of Bangkok. In Bangkok there are at least 3 places you can do the reports. Hopefully if the requirement continues it will be an on-line exercise at some point.
