Popular Post smedly
The UK are currently testing 10,000 per day soon to increase to 25,000 per day How is Thailand doing with a similar population - what is it - 100 per day with almost 10,000 in limbo status unknown so called PUI - sounds to me like they don't want to test then they don't have to produce actual confirmed CV cases just wait it out and hope they don't need more attention

natway09
Is there an advantage in knowing that you have it apart from the isolation thing ie do they issue special druge if confirmed ?

Depends on the severity. If like most cases it is mild, nothing special will be done but observation and isolation. AND - this part if important - contact tracing and testing which might help curb further infections. You may have contacts who are completely asymptomatic but nonetheless infected. Severe cases will need oxygen and possibly other respiratory support and antiviral drugs may be given empirically, though evidence base is still lacking. in New York City they are telling people with COVID symptoms not to even come to the hospital unless having difficulty breathing, otherwise self isolate and treat like the flu. But that is because it is so widespread there that they have pretty well abandoned contact tracing and are just doing mitigation. In Thailand contact tracing and testing is still worthwhile approach.
taxin
The governor and his government must take full responsibility for these cases, only 2 or 3 weeks ago Phuket (particularly Patong) was rammed with Italian and other mainland European tourists, a large portion of these tourists would have entered Thailand when the neighbouring counties in Europe would have already started to restrict movements. The Phuket Paradise Beach full moon party was allowed to go ahead in March, when other gatherings all around Thailand were being canceled. Many of these tourists would have flocked to Phuket after discovering the main full moon party In Koh Pha Ngan was canceled, many of them are still in Phuket now being ordered to stay in their rooms. I would say its more likely the virus would have been spread at a packed beach party, where you have groups of people sharing and drinking out of the same bucket, sharing the same straws, but no, we will blame it on the hookers on Bangla Road. As many will agree, sheer greed for the tourist $ will be the ultimate downfall for Phuket, not a virus, the virus is merely a consequence of such greed.
