I have, and while I don't feel the need for a gun in Germany and Switzerland, I think I would feel better with one if I was living in some areas of the US.

 

Besides, "personal security" is one of the essential needs according to Maslow's theory.

 

Regarding the situation in Thailand, I fully expect a rise in crimes, violent crimes and suicides due to the situation of the tourism, hospitality and sex industry. Many drug addicts will need to finance their next trip.

Without dedicated security deterring burglars, standalone houses and street /shophouses are prime targets.

I think the Founding Fathers were not only very wise but very far sighted. If the state has access to increased technology and advanced weapons, then so must the citizens for whom elected officials serve. 

 

Or, like some posters on here, you could subscribe to the view that governments, especially those on the left, well on the left, can be trusted to provide for all their citizen's needs and cares. 

 

Personally, I'll stick with the FF's and keep on being jealous of the rights enjoyed by my American cousins.

Donald Trump is as transparent as a clean window. He has his base of support and he is the president of only his base - corporations, Fundatmentalist Christians, conservative organizations like the NRA and those who have been left behind (displaced workers) and must work multiple jobs to keep themselves afloat.

 

Trump's opinons on current political and social issues can be linked to one or more of these groups. It seems Trump blurts out something off the top of his head, Fox News picks it up, gives it a positive spin repeating it multiple times on the 24 hour news cycle and it becomes gospel for many viewers of that channel thus encouraging Trump to carry on.
