Even singing can be dangerous

Dr Manoon Leechawengwongs, a respiratory disease specialist, said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (April 1) that Covid-19 can be transmitted even when people sing.

 

He added that this virus is transmitted through the air like tuberculosis.

 

US media recently reported that 45 out of 60 choral singers had been infected by the virus in a church, even though they had washed their hands before going on stage and had stood a metre or two away from one another. Also, there had been no personal contact among them, and they had not touched each other’s things. Besides, none of the singers showed any symptoms.

 

“This shows that droplet nuclei can be spread when people open their mouths to sing, and that these droplets can infect people standing at a distance during the incubation period,” the doctor said.

 

He said the infections among choral singers reminded him of the large number of infections in a South Korean church and at the Lumphinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

 

Laboratory evidence, so far, shows that the Covid-19 virus can live and float in the air for almost three hours.

There is a surefire method of stopping the virus from spreading. Just stop breathing. I think I'd like to recommend that method to some of these specialists.

 

In the meanwhile, stay home, stay safe, wash those hands.

As I consider Thai singing to be very similar to the sound of cats fighting, I would consider a ban to be a blessing.

And typically the microphone gets handed around from person to person, along many also put lips right up against the mic. Karaoke puts me at death's door, virus or no virus

Mist causes the virus suspended in the air to fall to the ground faster, and not be inhaled by others. Which is why people believe that hot humid weather is one of the reason it reduces the transmission of the disease .

The best singers, along with the best actors consider spitting a hallmark of excellent technique.

 

 

I love singing in the shower.  Guess I'll have to shower alone until this virus blows over...no pun intended...????

He obviously never sang in in the rain. Have you ever seen the rain?

Yes, and it can also spread by breathing in and out. Should people stop with that?

Yes, when researchers used a nebulizer to aerosolize it. Very unlikely to happen in the real world.

what i recognize often in Thailand: thais not want to learn from others, espcially if the ideas, suggestions come from western countries with much more specialists and experiance. But why they not learn from Korea???????????????? And only come up with stupid comments and they want to be professionals???? They are far from beeing professional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Singing in the shower is perfectly safe, you have no one to transmit the virus to. But group rehearsal... “During the entire rehearsal, no one sneezed, no one coughed, no one there appeared to be sick in any way,” she said. You sure?
