Is MaxNET or TT&T generally blocking mails sent via SMTP to servers outside Thailand?

I have a office here in Pattaya. Sending mails via SMTP/25 was never a problem but since two days or so the mails won't go via our foreign mail server(s). Also, a telnet connection to any mailserver off country is not possible anymore. The only server i can use at the moment (at port 25) is smtp.tttmaxnet.com, which i really don't want to use.

Anyone experience the same problems?

I had the same problem although I was using my own external SMTP server when I used to subscribe to Hinet ADSL from TT&T. The problem was solved by changing to Port 26 in my email program. I use Thunderbird.

My US based smtp server still connects normally using port 25...

If you can get your host to open port 26 like TRD mentioned you'll potentially save yourself a lot of hassles. I've had many ISPs and wifi hotspots block port 25 and using 26 will avoid constantly changing your SMTP server to the ISPs - like you are stuck with at the moment.

However, i'm not able to use another port(s) since all my providers (4) are stuck at port 25 and i'm also still not able to connect to any foreign mailserver at port 25.

Today, i sent ~10 mails trough smtp.tttmaxnet.com, 2 have arrived at the target mailbox, the rest are lost somewhere near nirvana.

No, i have checked with my hosting providers if other ports than 25 are available for SMTP at their servers. No luck. Only 25...

A friend is setting up a server for me right now and will open SMTP at a different port.

<BR>Well OK but based on my own experience I have learnt to never believe what any ISP in Thailand tells you. Ever. Period. It takes 30 seconds to open your email settings and change the default port and then send a test email. If it doesn't go then you have your answer. Simple. Now you'll never know if your ISP is talking BS. That's 10 years living in Thailand speaking.<BR><BR><BR>

I have my own US based mailserver and it kind of works all the time. Just an issue with frequent timeouts so I've to try a couple of times before the mails are sent. But at least they get delivered

i am suddenly having this same problem... does anyone know if it could be a problem with Outlook or if it has to be that my ISP (TT&T Maxnet) is blocking port 25? the reason i ask is i used a wifi service from a different ISP and i still had the same problem.

p.s. i can still send emails via webmail

It's because of the idoicy of biblical proportions from TOT/Maxnet...change the port to 26 in Outlook, it usually works.

Another solution is to not use the internet anymore...according to Thai leaders it's evil...Use "local net" that's much safer!

I have had same SMTP problems usually through TOT lines and used port 587 instead of 25 and works ok for now.

I have had more success using CAT line but sometimes this will receive but not send.

Thank you ThaiVisa! I had the same issue and searched all over internet. Lo n behold, it was at ThaiVisa that I find the solution. Switching from port 25 to 26 in my e-mail account settings fixed the problem! Thank you!
