The Royal Gazette announced on its website on Friday (April 3) that the National Health Security Office (NHSO) will be adding the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) to the list of diseases that will be covered by the fund from March 31 onwards.

The announcement, signed by Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, states that Covid-19 is now included in the scope of public health services available to those covered under the National Health Security Act BE 2545 (2002).

The Act covers standard public health services provided to low-income earners, old people, children under 12, monks, war veterans and more, in exchange for Bt30. Thais commonly refer to this scheme as the “Bt30 universal health coverage”.

Hopefully this will include test which will no doubt be ramped up with the new quick results test kits now becoming available to see just how prevalent this disease really is.

Do Thai have to reg for the scheme and pay 30bhat each year?

I remember poor Thai people only pay 30 baht when they visit the Hospital.
