Distributors take the product and "distribute" to where they have buyers.  They definitely can turn one shipment from Germany towards the US for more money.  They definitely would divert shipments for money.

 

The US customer only knows they just bought a planeload of masks, not that they took masks away from the Germans.

But apparently the Germans know.....................anyway COVID-19 is showing that most countries need to be more self sufficient in many respects this will not be the last pandemic and the next one might require something more than a 3M mask and hand gel.

With the industrial might of Germany & the USA you would think they could internally divert resources to make their own masks.

Anyway we must not forget that the really urgent medical care needs should be satisfied first. The rest of us can make do with a Tee shirt.

I see many examples of Thais with a sense of purpose making there own masks - probably the same the world over now - no one waiting for Gov to supply. 

 

PS. Does USA still have import tax on 3M masks made in China?

Fact is, the masks were ordered and payed by the Berlin Police Force, then they disappeared at Bangkok airport and made their way to the US. Surely a coincidence.
