The Foreign Affairs Ministry issued a statement saying not more than 200 people will be allowed to enter the country each day. The statement came after an order that planes would be prohibited from landing until April 18.

The number of 200 was decided upon after discussions between related agencies in order to systematically manage entry into the country and make appropriate arrangements for people entering, especially 14-day quarantine in specified areas.

Relevant Thai agencies are coordinating with embassies and the consulates-general to provide appropriate information, advice and assistance to Thais abroad.

The ministry said it would like to emphasise that the latest travel management rules are in accordance with the prime minister’s policies to tackle the spread of Covid-19.

You miss the point... the government is forcing thousands of Thai to stay abroad,  risk overstay, need for expensive hotels and meals,  unable to get home...

And furthermore.. who decides about priorities for repatriation... let's say Thai airways has to fly to 15 countries for repatriation... each country with 600 Thai wanting to get home.. worstcase a Thai citizen will have to wait 15x3 days.. equals 45 days stranded abroad by their government...

it could be more than 15 days, because when fights resume people may still have to wait many days for a seat...

10 people each on 20 planes

Too many people per flight

Suvarnabhumi, 4 April:

Quote

Only 1,120 people left on 37 international flights & 99 people arrived on 36 flights

99 on 36 flights. Many flights are repatriation flights coming "empty" (only crew).

I don't know whether crews are allowed to enter. Maybe they need two complete crews on board for inbound/outbound?

Does that means  the "over quotas" must wait in the transit zone before immigration (if those could be even landed ) , taking ticket numbers ?

And how they go divide that with other airports than Suvharhnaboumi….. Thailand amaze me even after 11 years every day more & more ….????

They wont be on overstay, most countries if not all , will have a visa amnesty.

I keep seeing details of airlines still flying out to Europe yet there is a flight embargo by CAA. This implies that there are aircraft parked on the ground at BKK just waiting to fill up and fly out. Confusion reigns as usual.

Hope this will over soon and things get back to normal ????

This is the old normal: contradictory information, left hand doesn't know what right hand doing, ministries run like fiefdoms, numbers pulled out of a hat...

I think they should make the number admitted 300. Have a tie in to that movie "The 300"

You have to read beyond the headlines where - deep down in the text - will be exceptions mentioned.  Misleading headlines seems to be the norm from some/many sources.

Why 200? They couldn't even manage to quarantine a hundred a few days ago. The number should be 20, not 200!

I'm guessing that immigration figures they can take on up to 200 and still win.
