On March 5, Dhanin had announced his group would invest more than Bt100 million in the construction of the factory to alleviate market supply shortage, amid surging demand in the wake of the new coronavirus (Covid -19) outbreak.

Dhanin said the factory would produce three million surgical masks per month in order to distribute to medical personnel through Chulalongkorn Hospital.

He added that production would be increased in order to distribute them to Thai people free of charge.

The factory will go on stream on April 16, after the factory gets permission from the Food and Drug Administration.

Truly a great man, that are giving something back to the Thai people in need. Looking good on you Dhanin.

Although this is a great thing, they should have started about 2 months ago.  Not complaining, just saying.

Do you think you can live with just looking at it as a good thing?

Damn you do, damn you don’t. Why can’t you just be happy and not be miserable complaining about everything that Thai’s do?

They did start 2 months ago. Had to put together a team to decide things like where to locate the plant and more importantly they had to find a source for the mask making machines. For the 2nd machine, they had to charter a flight to bring the machine from China because of flight restrictions. Seems some people don't understand that setting up an entirely new manufacturing plant takes time.

The founder supposedly got very angry at the people who were price gouging and decided to build the plant and give away the masks for free to put the price gougers out of business.

Hope more people do this because 3M allowed their distributors to price gouge and they should be put out of business.

He must have paid big money for the machines. I was trying to buy some in early March and they were quoting 150 days for FOB. Quite remarkable how quick he got them here. Now he just needs to find operators.

There are 2 very good articles that describe the effort along with pics that show the machines and the special masks that they are making. The masks are the latest design using "meltblown non-woven fibre". Don't know if I can post a direct link about the CP articles but google "thaiger cp masks" and the articles come up.
