A Narathiwat man jumped to his death from the eighth floor of a hospital in Samut Prakarn province today (April 13) from reported stress on being quarantined – just one day before he was released.

After being notified of the incident, the Samrong-Tai Police Station dispatched an investigation team, while rescue volunteers were ordered to wear protective gear before heading to the scene.

The 51-year-old man was sent to hospital after returning from a pilgrimage in Indonesia. He was found lying on the balcony of the second floor, his body covered in blood.

The team had to wrap his body in two layers of plastic to prevent any spread of coronavirus and sent the body to the Institution of Forensic Medicine.

After an investigation, police found the man was quarantined for 13 days and was about to be sent home as his Covid-19 test was negative. But just a day before being released, he went berserk while in a quarantine room with four other people.

The rest of the group pushed him out of the room and locked the door, leading him to become more stressed. He began to smash things inside the hospital and guards tried to calm him.

However, the man decided to climb out of the window and went straight to the balcony of the eighth floor before jumping off and hitting the second floor.
