Songkran storms sweeping the country left a trail of destruction across upper Thailand, with a total of 826 houses in nine provinces devastated by high winds and rain.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said on Tuesday (April 14) that the storms were fuelled by high pressure from China which sent strong southerly winds barrelling towards Thailand, picking up humidity from the South China Sea.

The storm damaged property in the nine provinces of Chiang Rai, Phitsanulok, Loei, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chonburi and Chanthaburi. There were no reports of casualties.

The department is collaborating with the Army and local government organisations to help residents affected by the storm and evaluate the damage so that the Finance Ministry can grant compensation.

Householders who have suffered storm damage can contact the 24-hour hotline at 1784.

it doesn't look like a house either

more like one of alcohol checkpoints, good to see if so

that house looks really badly damaged .....   so bad that all the furniture and everything blew away

Department of disaster prevention could only find a photo of a tent being damaged in 9 provinces.... Pathetic.????
