Just plain wrong. True, Galileo's suffered most flak from the Catholic church. But Galileo and Einstein were also rubbished by contemporaries among the scientific community..

 

Oh, and if you want a contemporary example of a religion seeking to impose its will on scientific enquiry, try being a global warming (oops! I mean climate change) sceptic or (God forbid!) a denier.
