5000THB Scheme works exactly for one Month ...Shame on you. The expected disaster.  Big words without substance.  Who is responsible for this nonsense.  Where is a plan to help people who can no longer live from hand to mouth now?

the problem is it is woefully insufficient data on every persons ability

to cope with a drop in income.

you seem to think the state can just conjure up wealth and distribute

to whomever ask for it, but that is not the case

No social security....?

it takes a nosy state many decades to catalog each and every persons income, wealth,

and tax it, part of the reason to tax is to get info in citizens.

this info can in times like this be used to reverse the cashflow to citizens,

and importantly target those in dire straits.

this is the nanny states back home that so many here denigrate,

but thailand have a very long way to go to apply fair taxes and nail everyone that doesnt

document their income / wealth, they are not up to snuff

to give fair support because they are not up to snuff taxing everyone fairly.

like it or not but bureaucracy is vital for cases like this

fast trains = infrastructure, and if there is one thing that developing nations should allocate

money for, it is infrastructure, it should be encouraged.

defense is a primal force, it invariably take no.1 priority for all species and civilizations,

live with it, and glance at US military spending in proportion for context

There have to be priorities and at the moment Fast Trains and Submarines shouldn't be priority helping those without income should take priority.

trains arent my favorite means by transportation either,

but they got the basic strategy right.

other areas are electric grid, and a better water system, sanitized,

better roads and drains for flood, well, lots of things goes into infrastructure

yes, and i dont expect any contracts to be signed for hardware until this crisis is well and duly over with. i also dont expect governments to break already signed agreements,

it reflect poorly on people and states backing out of a done deal,

not to mention there is clauses that will deal punishment for such a treasonous act

the absence of a true nanny state cataloging and taxing of its citizens

makes this very difficult for the thai bureaucracy to carry out,

there just isnt sufficient data, and to make things worse,

its also so corrupt that rich people can bribe state representatives

trying to measure up how much people can be taxed,

i know a rich thai personally that just told the officials to sod off

with tax request

How about selling a submarine to pay for it then?

Everyone else in Thailand is being forced to sell assets to meet their obligations. You aren't special.

According to the G/F yesterday, he can’t sell the subs as he’s going to need them to take himself and the family to Europe when all this kicks off! ????????????

It’s quite sad really, lots of people need help right now,  surely they could at least help their own people for  another couple of months considering how rich this country is ! In the meantime, while this virus dwells in the country and beyond he is in Germany enjoying himself surrounded by his harem of babes, who’s better than him ?! Clearly can’t care less of his own people, how sad to say the least ☹️

any 'help' to a person now that doesnt fill requirements is going to a deficit card

that everyone has to pay off later, this and /or following generations

They can be put on hold delayed if need be considering the situation.
They havn't had problems in the past breaking agreements.

it has a cascading effect, if thai government dont pay up as they signed a deal to do,

the producers dont have the cash they expected to pay their sub contractors,

and the sub contractors dont have the cash to pay their sub contractors etc etc etc

The UK has so far allocated the equivalent of approximately $50Bn over the next 3 months to pay for people that cannot work. Admittedly its economy is approximately 5.5x that of Thailand but this still results in it spending approximately 6.6x what Thailand reckons it can only afford? Especially when you take into account the vast reserves that Thailand allegedly has and how strong the baht has been against Western currencies?

uk is one of those nanny states that has been taxing all its citizens for a very

long time and know much better each persons ability to carry on

or in need of subsidies, thailand wont be there until corruption is stomped out

and every person from the bar girl to the bar owner is taxed in accordance with

their capacity
