PARIS (Reuters) - French President Emmanuel Macron rejected the idea that China had handled the coronavirus outbreak better than Western democracies in an interview published in Friday’s Financial Times.

The FT quoted him as saying that there was no comparison between countries where information flowed freely and citizens could criticise their governments and those where the truth was suppressed.

“Given these differences, the choices made and what China is today, which I respect, let’s not be so naive as to say it’s been much better at handling this,” Macron told the FT. “We don’t know. There are clearly things that have happened that we don’t know about.”

Frictions between China and France came to light earlier this week when the Chinese ambassador was summoned by the foreign minister after his embassy posted on its website what French lawmakers called “fake news”.

Naive? Or simply the product of people who are closet communists, if not agents of the CCP itself? It can often get difficult to make such distinctions when dealing with the totalitarian left.

We still do not know how China has handled the virus. We will not know for some time. We may never know. Regardless, I would rather be dead than under the thumb of the CCP. And if the US and Europe continue to purchase Made in China in volume once this pandemic ends, then shame on them!

but he answered the question with a delicate word salad, carefully avoiding taking a clear stance.

try this:

with an enormous, inefficient bureaucracy, china was of course slow to respond to initial reports, perhaps too slow.  efforts by local officials and internet censors to downplay or suppress information and warnings surely must have cost wuhan valuable time.   yet as an authoritarian police state, the national government was indeed able to order AND ENFORCE draconian lockdown measures that, while apparently highly effective, are greatly at odds with democratic societies.

... lol, you can say that again, they just 'corrected' Wuhans numbers, like plus 50% ... CCP polishing the turd a bit? There have always been rumors about far too many delivered urns, crematories on overtime, locked cemeteries etc. ...

how does the revision relate to urns or crematorium hours?

they merely changed the cause of death to add to virus statistic, moved from column A to column B.  doesn't change the total number of dead.

Sorry China, I still do not believe your numbers.

Don’t think the west handle the AIDS global pandemic that well too. Approximately 37.9 million people are infected with HIV globally and 700,000 deaths from AIDS in 2018. Better for the world to co-operate against this pandemic than casting blames. To eliminate this pandemic, the world need to get together to produce enough medicines, test kits, reagents, mouth swaps, ventilators etc and hopefully vaccine soon. The world biggest vaccine producers are in China beside India and Europe Let’s work together.

he should be president of the United States to be so smart ????

Go to 8:27 mins into the video and you'll have your answer how they handled the virus.

So, true!! I was doing good with my Japanese computer (Sony) and S. Korean telephone (Samsung).  Then, I stupidly bought what I thought was a Malaysian computer (Dell) last year. It's a piece of $_it. I've already had customer service come to work on it twice in less than a yr and must call them again soon... Yep, made in China.

The footage at 8:50 ran shivers down my spine. Worse than any "Walking Dead" movie I have ever seen.

Actually, it has been rather easy for them. They just had to use the system and tools already established before in order to control possible political unrest.

Socialist states, whether communists, watered down communists or socialist captitalists all place the state as supreme. Therefore people are subservient to the state, and the interests of the state come first. And that means no criticism, no free speech, no alternative views, and much reduced human rights.

But left wingers think that's acceptable because they believe socialist utopias are states in which everyone is equal, everyone has everything they need provided and everyone is happy - because the state says so!

What a source, MR macron ...hahahaha

I'm no fan of Macron, but in this he's somewhat more reliable than the Chinese communist party's state propaganda machine.

Of course that should be rejected.  The numbers out of China are like the Thai tourism board statistics.  Consider, the Chinese just raised the "official" death toll in Wuhan by 50%.  Another interesting thing.  The Horseshoe Bat supposedly the source of the virus does not exist in Wuhan but in caves, the closest about 1,000 km away from Wuhan.  Long way for a bat to fly for a few insects.  The Wuhan wet market has verified that though bats are sold, they have never sold any Horseshoe bats.  Now what is close to Wuhan and the wet market.  The only level 4 Chinese virology lab.  Attached is a map. The facility marked closest to the yellow road is the wet market, the other is the Chinese virus lab.  Even more interesting is that Shi Zengli known as the Bat Lady because of her research on bat pathogens is/was a researcher at the lab.

Wow, you're now against casting blame and working together. I can't wait to see the new you in the next US virus thread. This is a very exciting development.
