My 81 year old mother is visiting and wants to take some day tours of Bangkok and area. Does any one have recommendations of good tour companies or tours?

I love riding the river taxis on the Chao Phraya. Take the skytrain to Saphan Thaksin and a short walk down to the pier. They sometimes have free maps at the station. You can visit many Wats, the Royal Palace, get a massage at Wat Pho. Great scenery on a nice day. It could be a little tricky for your mom getting off and on the boats depending on her mobility?

Good luck and have fun! Wish I could get my dad (84) to come!

I have a friend that has a small personnel tour business. She also works for some larger tour companies. Not sure if I can list it here so send me a email and I will send you the information.

i used to work in the tourism industry in bangkok and the best guides i ever found in bkk were from a place called The Thai House. The Thai House is a family run business in the Nonthaburi area. Two of the three daughters are licenced guides, are very well travelled, speak great english and come from one of the most hospitable families I had the pleasure of dealing with in bangkok.

Google them and see how you go.

Muang Boran aka The Ancient City in Samut Prakan is an very excellent all-day trip. This place is a wonder, almost 1,000 rai (400 acres, 100 hectares) of very well done large scale reconstructions of Thailand's important historic sites. The place is owned by (and all work done over the years is supervised by) a prominent architect.

You can rent an electric golf cart for you and your Mom .. and your hotel travel desk can make the arrangements.

They have quite good Thai food, lots of places for refreshments and resting in the shade.

Every visitor to Thailand should experience it before setting out on their travels.
