cancelling extension of stay for visa extension my experience

 Ok, So this is for cancelling an non b for teaching/ extension of stay. Having been told on Facebook a few times "oh yes you need to cancel your extension of stay it's not included in the amnesty etc blah"

 

So i went to immigration to cancel my extension of stay today at immigration, I'd spoken to them on Facebook earlier and they told me to bring my resignation letter to immigration and then my visa would be extended. So I turned up with the documents including the resignation letter signed by the school. There was a little confusion when the nice IO said why didn't my resignation letter go up to July 31st, but I explained I had resigned and had been told that it could be extended to July.

 

She then stamped my passport, with a couple of stamps dated April 30th. I clarified with her that this would extend my period of stay until July 31st as there was no indication of that date on the passport at all. She said yes.

 

My conclusion from this is that i'm not sure going in would have made any difference as there is nothing on my passport to indicate it is extended to July 31st all extensions of all visas must be automatic. . My conclusion its a free extension to July, if your a teacher ending your extension of stay will help when you apply for a new job in Thailand as it ties up loose ends, my work permit was cancelled as well before, but other evidence you actually need to go in is sketchy and I don't know if its really necessary, but those facebook folk kept saying it so I went anyway.

 

They didnt charge any fees for this cancellation  and there is no July  stamp on my passport. The extension is automatic.
