The Social Security Office (SSO) has accelerated measures to help pay benefits to the insurer in the event of unemployment due to force majeure -- in the current case the Covid-19 pandemic -- under Article 33.

On Friday (May 1), the SSO clarified on approval of unemployment rights in the event of force majeure. Employers are urged to send a certificate of absence of employees through the e-form via www.sso.go.th urgently.

In the event that the insurer is unable to work and receives no wage regardless of whether the employer stop operating their business, or stops operating the business according to the government order, the insured is entitled to receive unemployment benefits at 62 per cent of the daily wage for not more than 90 days.

Currently, there are more than 1 million people who are eligible to apply for the rights. The SSO has accelerated the data verification process, scrutinised and paid 300,000 insurers.

So the insurance companies do not have to pay for an act of god?
Wuhan flu, is not an act of god. It’s an act of gross negligence of China.

I have been retired almost 14 years as well. Thank god I have a decent

pension, and have not had to rely on Stock market investments

like a few people I know.
